(Bonus Episode) Why You Can’t Get What You Don’t Have

(Bonus Episode) Why You Can’t Get What You Don’t Have

There’s life and there’s life experience, and life (which is a synonym for God, or love, truth, universal power, spirit, etc.) is all that there really is.

Life is forever unfolding and expressing. It’s giving of itself everywhere, maintaining and sustaining its own perfection eternally.

You are a unique individualized expression of this infinite life. You and the truth of you is already a done deal. You’ve already made it. You’ve already arrived. You’re already a success. Your life is already fulfilled.

You’ve already made it. You’ve already arrived. You’re already a success. Your life is already fulfilled.

This is the fundamental truth of all being.

But we’ve been conditioned to believe that life is an outside-in game, that we are separate from life, from each other and from all the things we want. So much of how we’ve developed and conditioned our mind, emotions and our body to live in this world are based on beliefs and concepts that are contrary to the way life really operates.

The mechanism by which you experience this infinite, eternal pattern of good, is by your own conscious awareness of it.

In order to express something, you have to already have it. In order to have something in your life, you have to express it.

You cannot experience what you’re not willing to express. You cannot express what you don’t consciously have, or as the Law of Circulation says, you cannot give what you don’t have; you cannot keep what you don’t give, and you cannot sustain what you don’t receive. It’s circulating, but it has to come from within you.

Listen to the podcast episode above for the full explanation and learn how you can develop that inner consciousness of having in your life TODAY.

And remember, self-help is shelf help – you have everything you need already!

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Derek Rydall here, founder of the Law of Emergence and author of the best-selling book, Emergence. It’s just such an honor and pleasure to be with you again on this journey of emergence as we take this deep dive into the core universal success principles. Those principles that when we align our life with them begin to naturally, organically and even effortlessly bring forth our greater potential in every area of our life. We’re talking today about why you cant get what you dont have. Why you cant get what you don’t have? It’s interesting that so many of these spiritual principles are so ironic and counterintuitive when you first hear them. Obviously, it doesn’t immediately make sense to say that you cant get what you don’t have, or I could even say you can never have what you don’t already have. It’s purposefully ironic, and also it’s just the way these tend to sound to us because they are counter. It’s not so much that they’re counterintuitive. They’re counter programming. They’re counter cultural conditioning. We’ve been conditioned to believe that life is an outside-in game that we are separate from life and from each other and from all the things we want. So much of how weve developed and conditioned our mind and our emotions and our body to live in this world are based on beliefs and concepts that are counter, literally contrary to the way life really operates.

Most of what weve learned is unfortunately 180 degrees in the opposite direction of how life was actually designed to work. It’s one of the reasons that there is so much pain, suffering, lack, and limitation on this planet. In fact, when you look at the word evil, its live spelled backwards. So, when you live backwards, or live in opposition to the natural principles, you create, you manifest, you experience what the world calls evil and all of it’s many forms and faces. Why you cant get what you dont have is because theres life and theres life experience, and life which is a synonym for God, or love, or truth, or universal power, higher power, the great spirit. By all these different names, it’s the same thing. This one infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent spirit, this one infinite intelligence that is giving off itself everywhere, that created everything out of its own being and is maintaining and sustaining its own perfection eternally, thats all that there really is. This ground of being, this order, this harmony, this wholeness, this perfection, but its nature is infinite, immortal and eternal, so its forever unfolding. It’s forever expressing. It’s already done. It’s already here. Its already now. This is what one of the master teachers, Jesus, meant when he said that theyre asking when is heaven going to come and what its going to look like, and he said, It will not come by observation. It will not be lo here or lo there, meaning its not going to be over there or over here. It’s already at hand. It’s already within you. He was saying it’s not in the future, it’s not in the distance, it’s already here.

Heaven is another name for ever-expanding good, for the realm of wholeness and harmony. It’s already here he said, but having eyes you see not, having ears you hear not. Elsewhere, he said, Do not judge by appearances. He was saying that all these things youre seeking for, all these things you’re wanting and needing, youve already got it. Its already here, but because you’re judging by appearances, and appearances dont tell you the truth, they just tell you what your belief is. They are projection of your relative perception of the infinite perfection. I’ll say that again, everything that appears is a relative perception of the infinite perfection. There is this infinite perfection. This infinite is life itself. It’s already whole. It’s already complete. It’s already done. It cannot be improved upon. It cannot be diminished. There’s nothing separate or outside of it that can enter in to corrupt it ordestroy it. Life is love, peace, joy, beauty, abundance, wisdom, genius, harmony, order, all of the good of the universe is. It uniquely is knowing itself as an infinite variety of ideas that you are one of.

You are a unique individualized expression of this infinite eternal life. You and the truth of you is already a done deal. You’ve already made it. You’ve already arrived. You’re already a success. Your life is already fulfilled. As it says in the Bible, Who by taking thought can add one cubit to their stature? What God has wrought, no man can put asunder. This that is true about you is eternal, is enduring, can never be destroyed, diminished and can never be improved upon. It’s complete. Its perfect, okay? This is the ground of all being. This is the fundamental truth of all being. Behind every appearance, there is an infinite immortal, eternal activity of truth, a perfect pattern of infinite potential, of infinite expression, of infinite idea. You cannot make stuff happen. You cannot add anything to life, but this infinite life is always enfolding, okay? That’s the foundation.

Why is it true that you cant get what you dont have? Because you do already have it, but the mechanism by which you experience this infinite, immortal, eternal pattern of good that is your true self, the way you experience it is by your own conscious awareness of it. Thats the mechanism by which infinity unfolds. If there wasnt a mechanism, there would just be all infinity expressing everywhere and there would be no experience. Like if you take a camera, and you open the aperture and just leave it open, there will be no picture. Itll capture no image. It will just be flooded with light. Itll overexpose it, and there will be nothing to look at. It opens up for a split second, captures a little bit of light, a little bit of the scenery, projects it on to the film, you develop it or put it on your computer, put a frame around it, whatever youre going to do with it, and that is a picture and an experience of reality. The same is true for your consciousness. Within you is the whole Kingdom of Heaven, the whole of Nirvana, the whole of the Tao, the Christ consciousness, the Buddha field, the whole quantum field, infinite good of every name and nature. Its uniquely composited as a divine idea that is unfolding as you, but it cannot be experienced and expressed except to the degree that you are available and aware of it.

This is why the Scriptural passage says, You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. It doesnt say the truth just makes you free; you have to know it. Lets be conscious of it. As Ive used the analogy, youre surrounded by electricity, truly infinite energy, but it doesnt do you any good until you develop the structures to harness it, and you plug in. The same is true with our consciousness. Were developing the inner structures to capture or to hold more and more of this infinite energy of our being, this infinite pattern of our perfection. We are consciously activating and expressing and allowing it to flow out of us into experience and expression. In order to express something, you have to already have it. In order to have something in your life, you have to express it. You cannot experience what youre not willing to express. You cannot express what you dont consciously have, or as the Law of Circulation says, you cannot give what you dont have; you cannot keep what you dont give, and you cannot sustain what you dont receive. Its a circuit. Its a cycle. Its circulating, but it has to come from within you. You have to have a sense of having. It also says in the Bible, To he who has, more shall be given, and it shall be multiplied. To he who has not, even that which he has will be taken away. This is a statement of consciousness. Its talking about the have consciousness.

Again, this is not religious. If youve never listened to me, I have to say this. These are not statements of religion when I use scripture, whether its Buddha or Jesus or Quan Yin or Shankara or Lao Tzu or whoever. Its principle. Its not personal. Its not religious in the old sense. Its principle. Religious in the true sense, because religion comes from a Latin word religios that means to bind one back, the same term used for ligament, the thing that binds your muscle and bone together. The truth of religion is meant to bind us to the truth of our being. When I use all these scriptures its because of its profound power and truth. In the great scriptures of the world, weve just got to get beneath the dogma and the doctrine and the cultural idioms and understand it in our current context. Thats what Im trying to do here when I share all this.

Elsewhere, Jesus says, When you pray, pray believing that you already have it, that you may receive it. To he who has, more shall be given. It will be multiplied. Pray believing you already have, and you will receive. Take no thought for your life, but seek first the Kingdom of Heaven within you, and all those things will be added. All of these are telling us we need to make that inner connection. We need to develop that inner consciousness of having – I have, I am, I can, Im able. Its already done. Only when we are in the state of having can we get more of that, can we experience more of that, because that consciousness of having is literally the substance of the thing itself that weve now become available to, and it begins to clothe itself in form. If you imagine your ideal life, and you really feel into how you would feel and how you would be showing if that was true, and you look at where you currently are, how you currently feel and how youre showing up, youll see the gap between there in the feeling tone, the gap in the sense of having and the sense of being. Then, you begin to create a plan to bridge that gap. Its not a plan to go make a bunch of stuff happen. Its a plan to make yourself more available to that which is always happening, and therefore make it welcome. Its a plan to begin to generate the feelings, the mental, emotional, vibrational set point of already having, already being, already happening, and then begin to live into that. Express that. Walk and talk and dance and sing in that vibration even before, and especially before, the appearance is there. If you wait for the appearance to change, youll be waiting forever, because whatever youre waiting for, youre waiting with and youre weighing it down, because from the emergence perspective, whatevers missing is what youre not giving.

If you want more to come in to your life, you have to let more life come out of you. If you want something different to come in your life, you have to let something different come out of you. If you want more love, peace, joy in your life, you have to let more love, peace, joy come out of you. Again, the only way you can only let more love, peace, joy come out of you is if you are activating a sense of having more love, peace and joy. You begin to stand in that belief, in that feeling tone, and then live into it, and then you begin to generate more and more of a field, a morphic field, an attractor pattern of love, peace, joy or whatever the quality is. According to your plan, your pattern, your true purpose, those qualities clothe themselves in form. People will say, Wow, you have more money or more opportunity, or more health, or relationship, or whatever and youll know that you dont have more of that, youve just accessed and activated a greater awareness of that which youve always had and which they have as well. You just accessed and activated more of an awareness of having. That awareness, which is the substance of all experience, begins to manifest. Remember, manifestation is not about making something happen that isnt happening. Its about making that which is eternally happening manifest, visible, tangible, audible, and sensible. Thats all. You cant manifest anything that doesnt already exist. Its impossible, because nothing can appear in life unless it already exists in consciousness. You are manifesting. You are making manifest, making visible that which is going on all the time invisibly.

Again, as I’ve used the analogy of the radio many, many times for those of you that have heard me talk, ad nauseam perhaps, but it’s a great analogy. That is that your favorite music is already broadcasting right where you are. Music, information, but it isn’t manifest until you tune the dial of your radio to the frequency of the station where it’s playing. When your frequency matches that frequency, so that you’re now on the frequency where that music is broadcasting, that station becomes manifest. In other words, you have a manifest-station. It wasn’t happening in the distance of the future. It was happening now. The distance wasn’t a distance of time and space; it was a distance of frequency. The frequency gets generated through your feeling, through your belief, through your feeling and other elements like your environment, your actions, your words. All of that contributes to the feeling tone, contributes to the frequency, either dialing it up the dial or down the dial, either tuning you into K-RICH or K-LACK.

So, its all about having a state of having. I know this is hard. Believe me. It’s particularly hard, because its so completely opposite of how weve been conditioned. We’ve been so conditioned to look to our appearances to determine how we feel. It’s so ingrained, especially when youre struggling or suffering, you dont have enough money and the bill man is knocking on your door, and the landlord is threatening eviction, all of which I know, or physical things are going on with your body, or your relationships are in turmoil, or you’re alone, or whatever. I’m telling you, you already have all the wealth, and the health, and the abundance, and the peace, love, joy, and companionship, and that you have to come into a state of having and feeling that its already done and living, and moving, and having your being in that. You’re like, Derek, thats really, really hard. I mean I got to pay my bills. I just need to pay my rent. My back hurts. My wife and I are fighting. Im alone and lonely. It’s not working. That’s the other thing. You do it for a while, and you start to have moments and glimpses of feeling powerful and abundant, and in love, and it has nothing to do with your condition. You recognize youre generating it which is the first step of liberation.

When you really see, I have the capacity to generate anything, any feeling, regardless of condition, you start to wake up from the illusions that your conditions are causing your feelings, because they never are, ever. Not even ever. So, you start to realize that, but then what happens is you hit a threshold and you start to go, Well, its not working. So, you’re feeling, but then youre looking outside of you for the result. Its like planting a seed and going, its not working, and digging the seed up over and over again. Eventually, you kill it. You lower the vibration until its not able to create that critical mass and manifest. This is a very common challenge. Here’s the reason why its happening in terms of your esoteric or spiritual evolution. The truth is that life is spiritual and invisible, energetic or vibrational.

The truth is that you are a spiritual or energetic, vibrational being. You’re not a material being, and you’re not living in a material world. You’re entertaining a material concept of things, but you live in a spiritual Universe, and you are a spiritual being. Everything you could ever want, hope or desire or need is spiritual. Ultimately, you’re being called to awaken to that and to consciously live in a spiritual Universe. As long as youre looking to the material forms, which are just the effect, old thoughts, a mirror of the past, the wake of a boat, that has no power whatsoever, as long as youre looking to those to determine whats real or true, you’re just looking at an old photo on the wall of some old past experience as if thats going to have some power to determine your life. You’re looking to the wake of the boat and expecting it to drive the boat, but it doesn’t. The energy presently being activated in the boat and the steering presently going on by the captain of the boat, thats whats driving the boat, not the wake. Your appearances are not driving your life. They are effect. They are a movie; they’re a projection. They have no substance and no power, but we give it the substance and power by looking to them and judging by appearances and reacting to appearances and letting them determine how we think and feel and move.

Its a complete illusion, because they never had a power over us. Were being called to learn how to live spiritually, to think, speak, feel and move not based on any appearance, but based on the highest truth of our being that we can master. Im going to think and feel, walk and talk based on the highest truth that I know, not just for a little while. Im not going to do that until it becomes my subjective habit, until no matter what the appearances are. Im not reacting to appearances. Im responding from the highest truth of my being. Then, the appearance is changed. Youre being called to develop your soul senses, your ability to see in the dark, to see in the soul, to live from the spiritual reality of your being. When you hit those thresholds, and youve been doing some of this work and its not appearing to work, its like the bamboo tree analogy where the roots are growing and growing and growing, and nothing seems to be happening on the surface. It takes years, and eventually in a matter of a couple weeks, it grows eight or nine stories.

Now, Im not saying its going to take you years but when its not happening right away is because you havent yet completed the root system. Youre being called to develop it. You cannot be tempted to judge by appearances. The sign of growth and progress is not that the situation changes, but that your reaction to it begins to change. The spectrum is at first youre in complete reaction – fear, anger, lack, whatever. As you do this inner work, you start to get free from that, and the reaction is less and less, or its duration is shorter and shorter. Like getting yourself into physical stamina where you have a quicker and quicker recovery rate. Eventually, youll reach a point where its neutral. You dont feel good or bad about it, your buttons arent pushed anymore, a very, very powerful sign. Then you start to move on the other side of it where you start to have a sense of gratitude, joy, aliveness, love, abundance even though, again, the condition hasnt changed yet. So, youve gone from a negative reaction to neutral position, to a positive response or radiation independent of the situation. At some point, that reaches critical mass, and it begins to manifest, but you know youre really changing when your response to the situation is expansive and positive, or its becoming less and less negative and becoming neutral.

As I like to say, when life squeezes an orange, all that comes out is orange juice, because thats all thats in it. When life squeezes you, what comes out? When a situation squeezes you, what comes out? When you dont have the money or the relationship goes sideways or the body goes sideways or the job gets lost or the things doesnt work out, thats life squeezing you. Whatever comes out wasnt caused by the squeeze; it was caused because it was whats within you, just like the orange. If I squeeze an orange, I dont cause orange juice to come out. I dont cause the orange juice to be in it. Im creating a condition where that which was always in it can come out. When life squeezes us, what was already there comes out. If what comes out is fear and anger, and sadness, and grief, and shame, and guilt, and lack, and revenge, and reaction, its nobodys fault. Not even yours, by the way. Its just the fact that thats whats in you. Life is squeezing you to show you whats in you so you can purify it. You can purify your intention and your beliefs and your perceptions, and gets stronger and stronger and more anchored in the truth of your being. Eventually, life can squeeze you any which way, and all that comes out is love, truth, power, poise, confidence, generosity.

Thats what were on the path towards. It starts with realizing that life cant give you anything. Life cant take anything away. No situation or condition is the source or cause of your life. You must take a stand in your own inner kingdom, your own inner Universe of wholeness, and do the work to embody the sense of having. I have, I have, I can, I will, I’m able, its already done. Im going to stand there and talk to myself and have conversation and activate feelings and take actions, all of which are in congruence with that truth. How long? Until I’m living in a state of whatever is the quality that I think I would have that the condition was changed. You know that youre free regardless of conditions, and then the condition changed.

As long as you are looking to conditions and internally, you have a state of I don’t have, it’s not happening, it’s not working, something’s wrong, I’m wrong, there’s not enough, I’m not enough, and then you do in all kinds of stuff to make stuff happen, you will keep manifesting your inner state of not having. Remember to he who has not, even that which he has will be taken away, because youre just manifesting and magnifying a state of not having, and so you get a greater and greater demonstration of not having. Even if you manifest a bigger paycheck, you end up being broke at a higher income bracket and having even more stress and anxiety than ever before. You must stake your claim to realize and embody a state of having, a state of it’s already done. This is one of the greatest secrets. Its not easy.

Another analogy I talked about, when a racecar driver is taught how to drive and deal with when the car hits an oil slick and spins out towards the wall, everything in your body wants to look to the wall, believing that if I just keep my eye on the wall, I wont hit it, but in fact, if you do keep your eyes on the wall, you will hit it, guaranteed. You have to do what at first seems counter and look away from the wall, look towards where you want to go. Thats an analogy to dont look at the problem, dont look at the condition, but look towards where you want to go. Look to the vision. Look to the highest thought, belief, idea. Get into that feeling state, even while your car is sliding towards the wall, even while your life seems to be sliding towards a problem. Im not saying ignore the problem, don’t do anything about the problem. I’m talking about an inner state, first and foremost, that your inner vision is directed towards the highest vision, towards the highest thoughts and feelings, towards the finish line. There’s a crucial moment. Basically, why this works with the car is that your hands follow your eyes, so if you look towards the wall, your hands keep steering to the wall. If you look away from the wall, your hands start steering away from the wall.

The same thing with your awareness. Your mind energy goes where attention flows, or energy flows where attention goes. Even when you turn your hands and you look away from the wall, theres a period in some cases, sometimes many cases, where the car is still sliding towards the wall, because it has momentum and its slick. Youve turned, and youre still sliding towards the wall. It can be very tempting to not have the courage or the patience and to look back towards the wall again and go, It’s not working. It’s not working. I have to look at the wall. Then, slam, you hit the wall. If you look, keep looking away, its sliding to the wall, you’ve done everything right, you’re doing the work, you turned your hands, you turned the wheel, but its still sliding towards the wall, but you keep your vision, you do not look at the wall, you do not get pulled down by that, at some point, the wheels catch and the car pulls out of that spin. The same thing is true with our internal momentum, the mental, emotional, vibrational momentum. At some point, it catches and we pull out of that spin. If we get impatient or afraid, and we look at the problem, we stir by back into it again vibrationally.

Now, is it guaranteed that if you look away from the wall youre never going to hit it? No. Absolutely not a guarantee, but it is a guarantee that if you look at the wall, you will. If you keep your attention riveted to the problem, you will keep creating more of the same. Even if, through sheer will, you manage to resolve that one problem, it will pop out twice as hard, twice as bad, because youve manipulated appearances, but you havent fundamentally changed your consciousness. You haven’t evolved. Problems can never really be solved, but they dissolved as you evolve. You have to have your attention on the vision, on expansion. As you expand beyond the paradigm of the problem, the problem can no longer survive in that. The solution lives outside of that problem paradigm, so when you expand into that larger paradigm, you expand into the solution.

It’s challenging. You’ll never hear me say this isn’t challenging, but you have to have the courage, conviction, commitment and ultimately some level of discipline and that includes support and other people to remind you, so that when youre spinning, you have a practice that brings your attention back to the vision, back to the truth. You have the practice that activates the inner feeling tones that you want to feel, that develops the inner vision, the inner awareness, beliefs, and it has you taking constructive action. So that your way of life is consistently moving towards an ever greater state of having, of being, of it’s already done, I’m already it, life is working together for my highest good. That gets integrated. It gets embodied. You pulled out of the spin. You’re back on track. Youre moving fast with momentum, and you cross the finish line. Then, you begin another race and another opportunity to grow and expand.

This is the principle. You can’t have or get what you dont already have. You have to take a stand and stake your claim in developing your consciousness of I have, I can, I will, Im able, its already done. Stand in that and feel that, and develop that as long as it takes, by the way, because whats the alternative? To fall back into the belief that you dont have and to feel really bad and depressed and down and lacking so that you can just manifest more of that? Honestly, if it takes you a day, a week, a month, a year or more to develop a state of consciousness of having, its worth it. That is an investment that pays reach dividends. This is what it means when the biblical scripture says,Lay not up your treasures on earth where rust and moth shall corrupt and thieves shall break in and steal, but lay up your treasures in Heaven where rust and moth cannot corrupt and thieves cannot break in and steal. It’s telling you, dont make appearances your Source. Don’t judge by those things, because that will just be eroded and taken away, but turn within and make that contact with the real source and lay up your treasures there. Build an inner state of consciousness there. That consciousness you will take with you forever. Whatever you build on earth is relative, and it will ultimately go back to dust. Whatever you build in consciousness, you have forever. You’ll take it with you, even when you leave this place. That’s why if it takes you a year, honestly, even if it takes you a lifetime, youve built something that you own now forever.

(Bonus Episode) When to Stay the Course, When to Change Directions

(Bonus Episode) When to Stay the Course, When to Change Directions

It can be very challenging to know when to stay the course and when to switch lanes. As I’ve taught, one of the most important things to do as a creator and entrepreneur is to pick a lane and to stay with it until you reach a specific result — no matter how challenging it is.

This level of commitment and focus brings up all the unconscious limitations that need to be healed, released, or integrated — and leads to building real soul stamina, resilience, and character. When we follow every shiny object and switch back and forth when things get difficult, boring, or unsure, we thwart our evolutionary progress.

It’s like circling the runway — we never get liftoff speed or escape velocity. In other words, we have no momentum. And without momentum, it takes all of your existing energy just to keep things moving. There’s no leverage, no capacity for deep creativity and innovation.

I struggled and suffered from this syndrome for many years until I understood the power of picking a lane and sticking with it with total commitment, no matter what, for a certain period of time. The result was that my work took a quantum leap — going from barely nothing to a global business in just over a year.

In order to succeed, one must develop the capacity for sustained focus. This is a key distinction that separates achievers from non-achievers. Non-achievers stop when things get hard, when they get bored, or when the results aren’t forthcoming. Achievers stay the course until they reach the finish line, no matter how hard it is.

This isn’t easy. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “God will not do His works through cowards.” Making real chance, making a real difference, and fulfilling your potential requires courage, strength, and a willingness to buck the trends of human thinking. That’s why so few ever do it!

You have to be willing to challenge and ultimately transmute limited beliefs and conditioning. You have to be willing to do what must be done, even when you don’t feel like it, even when people and conditions seem against you. But the result is a life worth living — a life where you are living on the emerging edge of possibility.

As the saying goes, “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space!”

Now, a common question around staying the course is, “How do I know if I’m meant to keep going or change directions?” This is often accompanied by sayings like, “Things are so hard, it must be a sign from the universe that I’m not meant to do this.”

Let me make this very clear: things being hard is NOT a sign from the universe that you’re meant to stop. If that was the case, just about every person who has ever made a significant difference in their life or the world would have quit!

The only sign from the universe that you might be meant to change directions is that you no longer desire the thing you were striving for. But even this can be tricky. Often, after much effort, the dust and grit of the journey can cover up your burning desire, to such an extent that you can barely feel it anymore, if at all.

To check this, just ask the question, “If I was guaranteed success, guaranteed to be brilliant at this, and to be well received, and I could do it in a way that truly fulfills me, would I still want this?” This helps to override the ego’s threshold and the weariness that the journey has built up. If this sparks your desire again, stay the course. This is a sign of what’s trying to emerge…

You might discover along the way that new insights, new inspiration, new vision, new capacity and new opportunity starts to show up in your life. Before you know it, you’re getting hired somewhere or you’re doing something unexpected. That’s not an accident, that’s emergence. You just couldn’t have pictured it or imagined it from where you were before. This is a result of staying the course.

The key is to remain mindful, because if you’re a creative entrepreneurial type, you can have all kinds of new ideas and possibilities arise that tempt you to change course. You must stay vigilante. Ask yourself if you’re just tired, scared, bored, frustrated, and wanting relief…or if things have really changed and it’s time to make a different move.

Most likely it’s the former. The fact is, most people are just not willing to develop the inner fortitude it takes to stay on track long enough to get real, sustainable results. The main reason is that it requires real change, not just cosmetic makeovers. You have to actually become a different, more expanded, better version of yourself — if you want to keep creating better results.

To the ego, real change is equivalent to danger or death. So it will bring out all the heavy artillery to try and make you back away from the border of change. It’s had a long time to master this process — and it really thinks it’s protecting you. But if you want to make real progress and create real growth and success, you need to challenge this part of yourself and see through its coping mechanism.

Bottom line, you need to make a choice and pick a lane — then stick with it for a specific period of time until you get a specific outcome. And you need to do this no matter how hard it gets. If you’re willing, you will not only make real progress — something most people never do — but you will become an evolved version of your previous self!

Make the commitment today. Create a real vision, with a real plan — then put it on your calendar. Find an accountability partner, someone who also wants to make important changes in their life, and commit to supporting each other. This could make all the difference.

Listen to an in-depth podcast on this subject, where we break it down and talk about how to put it into real-life practice TODAY. This will be a real game-changer!

And remember, self-help is shelf help – you have everything you need already!

Stay inspired!

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Derek Rydall here, and I want to welcome you to another episode of Emergence, the revolutionary path for radical life change, where we’re diving deep into the core principles of life that lead to consistent and dependable success and growth, to really living and growing and unfolding the way we were designed, which all of nature reflects back to us, but we have unfortunately become disconnected from. Our true nature is that we are individualized expressions of life. All the power, presence, substance, wealth, health and life, everything that is necessary to truly create our masterpiece, to paint our masterpiece on the canvas of time and space, to display our destiny of greatness, all of that is already here. It’s already within us. It’s already who and what we are, just as electricity is already everywhere, but we have to create the structure to plug into it. Likewise, everything that we need to be all we were created to be is already here. The process of growth and unfoldment and success isn’t about making it happen. It’s about making what is already happening welcome. It’s about creating the inner and outer conditions that are congruent to it that it may become manifest through us and as us.

We’re talking on this topic when to stay the course and when to change directions. This is a really common challenge for a lot of creative types and entrepreneurs and really just spiritually-minded, heart-centered people that are wanting to be about something. It can be very challenging to know when to stay the course and when to change, when to switch lanes. As I’ve often talked about, one of the most important things to do as a creator and entrepreneurial type is to pick a lane and to stay in that lane. That’s really, really difficult to choose when you have so many possible ways to go, or you’re just not sure and you want some kind of guarantee and assurance before you get all in. You try to joggle multiple things and play the field, and you find that nothing ends up growing, and you don’t gain any real momentum. I struggled and suffered from that for many years until I understood the power of picking a lane and sticking with it with total commitment no matter what for a certain period of time. The reason for that is that character is not developed when things are going easy. Character, which ultimately determines your destiny, is developed when things are challenging, when things are difficult, when things don’t go your way.

That’s when you develop character. In the same way that you don’t develop muscles by lifting a weight that’s so easy and doesn’t do anything to you. It has to tear the muscle. It has to do something in order to actually cause the muscle to tear and cause it to develop. If you’re not tearing your muscle, you’re not growing your muscle. It doesn’t mean you can’t maintain without tearing it, but if you’re going to grow, if you’re going to keep growing and unfolding and evolving and not merely maintaining the same status quo, you have to be going beyond comfort, convenience, yet go into those thresholds of consciousness, those boundaries of your known self-concepts and your concepts about life. You have to cross those thresholds. You have to break down those walls. You have to challenge and ultimately transmute limited beliefs and conditioning. That’s a never-ending process, because your true nature is infinite. It’s always unfolding. There’s always something more, always something new, always something next. Ultimately, you learn to live on that edge, that emerging edge, that evolutionary edge. As the old saying goes, If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.

Along this journey the question that arises, if you have had the courage to pick a lane, is when to stay the course and when to change? I want to tell you right out of the gate, for all of you metaphysical, spiritually-minded individuals, this is what I want you to get very clear, because this is one of the most common statements or questions. When things get hard, people will say, Maybe that’s just a sign from the Universe that I’m not supposed to keep going. I really want you to hear this: Things being hard, even really, really hard, is not a sign from the Universe that you’re supposed to stop. Think about it. If that was the case, then look at all of the greatest inventions and innovations in pretty much every area. How much challenge and strife and struggle, Martin Luther King, Jr. would have quit a long time before he ultimately made the kind of progress he did. Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Buddha, Jesus. Buddha suffered and struggled for years trying to understand and to break through. Jesus was hunted down and persecuted. Gandhi was constantly challenged by the British government. Mother Teresa was thought to be crazy and a fool and got sick and had all kinds of challenges. Thomas Edison failed purportedly thousands, if not up to ten thousand, times to discover and develop the light bulb. Walt Disney went bankrupt twice. Colonel Sanders tried to give away his chicken recipe somewhere over a thousand times, just giving it away for free. He couldn’t get anybody to take it. He persisted, something around a 1,003 or 1,006 somebody gave him the graciousness of just trying it out.

Over and over and over again, you see the story. If challenge and strife and even suffering was a sign from the Universe you’re supposed to quit, we’d still be in the dark ages. I want you from now and forevermore to erase that silly statement from your mind, Oh, it must be a sign from the Universe. No. The most important signs from the Universe are the ones you have within you, because the Universe is really in you. You’re not in the world. The whole world is in your consciousness. One of the most important signs that you’re meant to stay the course is your desire. The desire in its truest meaning is a root of the sire, or of the creative principle, of the Father, of the creative principle. It’s an indication of what’s in you trying to emerge. As long as you desire it, then it’s true.

Now, a caveat to that is it’s like it hears you now saying, Well, when it gets really, really hard, I don’t want it. I felt like I don’t want it anymore. You have to identify or discern the difference between truly not wanting something and just being burnt out or overwhelmed or disappointed, because the dust and grit and debris of the journey can cover up the spark, snuff out that flame and turn it into various sparks on the backbone of your soul, barely a pilot light, and it can feel like you don’t want it anymore. Sometimes, that’s an appropriate evolutionary process. It’s an erosion process that’s breaking down your ego, breaking down your willfulness, because as one of my mentors, Michael Beckwith, says, Where there’s a will, there’s a wall, but where there’s willingness, there’s always a way. Sometimes, we go in for our desire with a lot of willfulness and just pure will and force and push. Ultimately, as we grow and develop, we need to become more of a channel, an instrument for a higher power, a higher movement rather than merely being an ego that’s trying to make something happen. That can be eroded. It can feel like we don’t have as much desire, but what’s really happening is we’re becoming more and more surrendered.

One of the other things is it just can get covered up by the dust and grit of a journey, and so you need to ask a question to override that particular state of consciousness. You can ask, If I was guaranteed to succeed, if I was guaranteed to be well-received and guaranteed to be brilliant and good at it, do I still want this? Maybe you’re feeling tired and burnt out and disappointed in dissolution, but when you sincerely ask, If I could still have this and it could be easy and I could do what I want to do with it and create and contribute the way I want, with who I want, where I want, how I want, do I still want it? If you ask sincerely, and it’s merely been covered up by debris, you’ll feel that little kick, that little twinkling again. You’ll be like, Oh, yeah, I do want it. I’m sad, I’m disillusioned, I’m disappointed, I’m burnt out by all the struggle, but if I could really still write that book or make that impact or have that relationship or whatever the contribution might be, I really do still want that. I don’t know how I can get it. I feel a lot of doubt about it but I do want it. Then, that’s the sign you are meant to stay the course.

Some people would say that that’s giving false hope, because sometimes you could want the thing that you’re just not cut out for, like you want to be an NBA basketball player, and you’re 5’, or you’re 45 years old or something like that, and in that case, I would ask you to really check and see is that really your burning desire? If it is, then you can use the visioning process, the visualization process, to get into the feeling tone and be open to other ways that that vision is trying to unfold. What are some other versions of it? Maybe it’s not being an NBA player. Now, I’m not saying it’s not possible, because there are examples of people over the age that had become professional athletes or under the right height that had become professional athletes. So, I’m not saying you shouldn’t, and especially if there’s a burning desire, but sometimes that impulse to be or do or have something is being misinterpreted, that if you didn’t become an NBA basketball player, or you didn’t become the president of United States, whatever it might be, that if you could be involved in that world, that would feel just as good –a commentator, an author, a blogger, a videographer, somebody that’s commentating, expressing, creating in that area – that might feel just as inspiring and empowering. So, I’m not telling you to let go of the big vision, and I’m not saying that you let any of those worldly limits get in your way. For example, there are people, Grandma Moses became one of the world’s famous artists in her 70s or 80s. People had become doctors in their 70s and maybe even later. All manner of things happen in ways that define logic or defy what the world says it has to be, so I’m not telling you not to because of those. I’m just saying that sometimes what we think we want does contain the essence of what we want, but the exact form may not ultimately be what we think it will be.

That’s why I always say you can use visualization to access the qualities of feeling and being. You can do the LIFT process. If you don’t know what the LIFT process is, I would invite you to listen to the podcast where I talked about that and/or get the Emergineering program or the Emergence book and learn how to integrate that process. In any case, if you do that process and endeavor in advance towards your dream, your vision, as you come in to vibrational alignment with it, if the picture is not quite right, you’ll be course-corrected. Okay? The key is if you still want it, if you ask those questions and you move away some of the dust and debris and you still want it, then you are meant to still keep going for it. Again, we don’t know what the ultimate outcome will look like, but there’s something in that desire that is telling you something is in you trying to be born. That’s the key. As you do the work to come into the vibrational alignment with it, as you do the work to go for it and stay the course through those thresholds of fear, doubt, lack, limitation, challenge and it causes you to dig deeper and stick by something when all seems lost and build up the courage, the confidence, the strength, the faith, the resolve and the stamina, all of that is developing your character. It’s making you a stronger and stronger instrument to create and contribute and show up, stand up, speak up, speak out and be who you really are in a more powerful bold way.

You might discover along the way of one particular journey, as you’re becoming this individual as a result of staying on the course, that suddenly new insights, new inspiration, new vision, new capacity and new opportunity starts to show up in your life. Before you know it, you’re getting hired somewhere or you’re doing something. That’s not an accident. That is the unfoldment. You just couldn’t have pictured it or imagined it from where you were before. Much like the caterpillar. The caterpillar is following its impulse. It starts eating and eating and eating and doing all this stuff. Pretty soon, it pushes itself into a catalyzing state where it starts in the process of becoming a butterfly. Eventually, it creates a cocoon. It liquefies. All that wonderful stuff happens. It literally dies to the caterpillar, reborn as a butterfly, and now it is flying in an all new atmosphere. Well, if the caterpillar had a vision for its life, and it wanted to build the best caterpillar life possible, and that drove it to do whatever it’s doing, it drove it to an edge where it began this catalytic process of becoming a butterfly. That initial vision drove it there, but what it ultimately becomes was beyond its self-concept. It couldn’t have imagined the butterfly life.

The truth is you can’t really imagine what your destiny is, because it’s outside of imagination. Imagination is just a rearranging of existing known things. It’s a wonderful tool, but ultimately your vision lives in what I called the emergination, which is the imagination of the soul. We can’t really imagine. We have our best guess. We go forth, we stay the course, we build the character, and we come in to complete vibrational attunement or integrity with it. It changes us from the inside out as we stay the course. We build all kinds of skills and capacities and qualities of being. We become a better and better version of ourselves. Sometimes, the vision looks somewhat like what we imagined, or at least in the ballpark, and other times we’re taking on an event that takes us into places that we never imagined, but is always good and even often better than what we imagine. That’s why it’s no problem to start with the vision that may or may not be the exact accurate picture. As long as you do the LIFT work to come into vibrational alignment with it, because the vibrational qualities of it can never go wrong. If you’re developing more and more quality of abundance, joy, power, peace, love, etc., you can’t go wrong with that, because that’s universal. According to your unique pattern, it will begin to shape and form itself. That will lead you into new directions.

We must pick a lane and stay the course. Obviously, you have to develop a vision. You have to know where you’re going. If you don’t know where you’re going, every road will take you there, and you’ll be lost. You have to have a vision, and that’s the work we go through in the Emergineering process or the Soul Purpose Blueprint work. Now, you’re on course, and you stay the course. You pick a time period, so that for the minimum, 6 months, 12 months, for me, it was initially 18 months, you’re going to go for a particular result, and you’re not going to let up until you get that result. You’re going to do all the work to grow mentally, emotionally, spiritually, creatively as otherwise along the way. As a result, you will be a better version of yourself. Perhaps you’ll continue to stay in that direction, or you’ll discover after all there’s a new direction, but you’ve built the character now. You’ve overcome some core karmic patterns, and you now built the character to really now take the next leg of your journey.

Now, when is it time to change directions? Well, there’s a couple times. One is when in all sincerity the thing you are going for you truly, truly do not want anymore. That’s an evolutionary ark that happens to people where you are going for one thing. In fact, in the world of drama and storytelling, they call it a false goal. You see a lot of movies where the character has a false goal. Oftentimes, it ends bittersweet or tragic, where they only realize at the very end what they really wanted, like Citizen Kane where he’s going for all these riches and success, which was really a reaction to a wound. At the end, all he wants when he’s dying in his big mansion alone, all he wants is Rosebud, which is his sled when he was a little boy, which represents family and love and connection and innocence. At the end of the day, that’s what his soul really wanted, but he had lost it along the way, so it becomes a tragedy or a cautionary tale. You see that in stories.

Sometimes you see it like in Rain Man, Tom Cruise thinks what he really wants is to control his brother and get the money from the estate or make money from these cars, and at the end all he really wants is a real relationship with his only family, his brother. That’s bittersweet because at the end, he gets the relationship, but he loses his brother. He can’t keep him. So, we see that in stories all the time, these false goals that when a character goes for them, if they keep going, eventually it changes them. In some cases, they realize the error of their ways in time and they switch courses, and that’s a triumph. In other times, they get part of the goal but not the full goal, that’s bitter sweet. In other times, they don’t get it all, but they realize it or will realize it was a false goal, and that’s a tragedy.

The same is true with you. As you’re going along, and let’s say you think what you really want is to have a big business and make millions of dollars, get a mansion and a Ferrari, whatever that might be, and as you’re growing and developing emotionally, mentally and spiritually, things happen that transform you and deepen you. At some point along the way, you really get that making all this money is not my goal after all. It’s really not what matters to me. I’ve really changed. What really matters to me is making this contribution or having this family or maybe a completely different industry. After all, I really just want to be an artist. Like the story of the guy who was felt pressured by his parents to become a doctor. He pursued being a plastic surgeon, and what it was was this artistic impulse put into the most hopefully, in his mind, the way he can make the most money. Eventually, he was very unhappy and realized it was a false goal, being a plastic surgeon, and he wanted to be an artist. Like the lawyer who felt pressured by his parents to become a lawyer and ultimately got cancer and decided he was going to go for what he really wanted and that was music. He began to play music and learn music, and he was healed. These are examples of where we go for a false goal, but we really get through circumstances, through inner experience, that that’s no longer what we want. It’s clear, and it’s replaced by what we do want. Sometimes, it can just go away, and we don’t know what we want. We experience a dark night. Other times, we get really clear, suddenly or incrementally, this is just not what I want or care about anymore. What I really want and care about is this. That’s an obvious example of when it’s time to change directions when we really don’t want it anymore.

The other time is where it just already evolved. It might not be as dramatic or drastic, but it just evolves. Like for me, I started off as an actor, and at a certain point, I had a spiritual opening, and it wasn’t really a conscious choice per se, but I was just so pulled and driven to go on this inward journey that the outer pursuit of acting became unimportant to me. It wasn’t even like a conscious choice. It wasn’t like the outer experience of acting was so hard and painful that I wanted to change it. It was just this inner experience was so powerful I couldn’t resist it. Then, as I went on, I started writing, and I was developingmyself as a screen writer. That didn’t take off initially, but I found out I was really good at talking about story, and almost organically, as I begin to pursue where the interest was, I grew into a story consultant and script consultant. There was this kind of organic awareness that that was a door that was opening. I could make money. I could learn the craft even more. I could be of service. I could get all these needs met by pursuing that. Then, at a certain point, it became clear that that was no longer fulfilling enough, that I really wanted to be writing my own stuff. So, I began writing my own stuff, or rather I began getting hired to write other people’s stuff, instead of just consulting to write whole screen plays. Eventually, that wasn’t fulfilling enough, and I realized what I really want to do is write my own stuff. So, I began writing my own stuff and getting other people to hire me to do that. Eventually, I got really cleared that I wanted to write a book about how I did it all.

These goals emerged organically, and there was like little incremental steps or little incremental turns, and then eventually I was consulting, and then eventually I was bringing in spirituality into my consulting. Then eventually that drove me to write another book, There’s No Business Like Show Business, on consciousness and creativity and the media. Then I saw that, as I developed the platform to market that book, I began to learn marketing, online marketing and all these new areas in order to make that project successful. That led eventually to me wanting to just be a coach, a transformational coach. Now, I took all that I’ve learned from that and began to apply it there. You see there was like this incremental gradual evolution. At certain points, I had to make a decision – try to keep this other alive and do this other thing or eventually put all my attention into the new thing and let go of the other. That was hard. I had to again choose and let go of some good stuff that was working in order to go for this thing that I really wanted.

When to change directions is either because you truly lose the desire. It’s just not there anymore. You just don’t want it anymore. You don’t want to do anymore, not because of burnout, but because you really changed. The other thing is organically a new direction arises, and it’s often a progression to one side or the other of what you’re doing. Now, you have to be mindful, because if you’re a creative entrepreneurial type, you can have all kinds of new ideas arise, new possibilities arise. I’m not talking about Shiny Object Syndrome. I’m talking about you are steadfast and committed to a result, and you are all in and you’re working, like I was a story consultant or a screen writer. I mean I was really, reallydoing it. I wasn’t just playing at it. I was committed to very specific outcomes. That evolved into new tributaries. That’s different than What about this? What about that? What about this? What about that? Now, the what about this, what about that came into play when I had multiple possibilities, because something new was emerging and I had to see, I had to try. I was trying to hold onto the thing that was passing and the new thing that was emerging. That’s when I had to be willing to let go. Ultimately, when the Law of Emergence became evident to me, I had to once again be all in committed fully. For me, I chose a minimum of 18 months to be all in, create the program, create the offering, launch it, and see how it went. I wasn’t going to stop for a minimum of 18 months. That’s when all of my work was taken to yet a whole another level.

These are the things we want to begin to discern: When to stay the course, when to change directions? I can tell you for many of you, just from my experience, the biggest challenge is staying the course. The biggest challenge is being committed. The biggest challenge is picking a lane and staying in it when things get hard. They will get hard. You will bump up against lots of walls. You may experience loss. You may experience all kinds of rejection. You may experience every door close against you. You may experience what appears to be the whole world telling you you’re crazy, you’re wrong, this is not going to work as have many, many creative entrepreneurs, teachers, leaders. None of that means you should stop. Your work is to get clear that you still want it, that it’s still the vision and the mission, and then to do the deeper work that I teach – embracing the shadows, the values conflicts, strengthening the inner core, reconditioning so that you have soul stamina, so that you’re truly rooted and anchored within, getting the accountability partners, having coaches or mentors or group that can really support you and hold the space when you don’t feel like you can.

If you don’t have that kind of support around you, you must get it. Mentoring and coaching is a principle. It used to be the master apprentice model. We’ve lost that to our great detriment. The mastermind principle where you have a group of people that are supporting you in different ways is a principle that we used to have in some of the greatest innovators and leaders of the turn of the century and beyond, they have that. Look back in history, you see groups of individuals that were tight-knit, that were supporting each other, whether it was the industrialists of the industrial revolution or the Renaissance people that hang out together or the time of the Greek period where there’s Socrates and Aristotle and Plato and all those types of individuals forming together in mystery school. There was this group that came together, supported each other, bounced stuff off each other that held like a morphic field, their own attractor pattern that was separate and apart from the societal norms, so that they could keep lifting each other while society was constantly trying to pull them back. They had mentors and masters that they could apprentice under so that they can continue to be lifted and lifted and lifted, where otherwise condition, society, their own patterns would pull them back and pull them down.

So, you need to have these. You need to have those structures in your life so that you can stay the course and you can get to that point where you grow beyond those thresholds, you truly grow, you truly develop character which determines your destiny and also can have the kind of healthy feedback that can help you make the decision when it’s time to change direction. I invite you to really take this to heartfelt consideration and to take some kind of action, whether it’s a deeper commitment to stay the course, whether it’s a reevaluation if it’s time to change directions, but do some work on this today. If you don’t have a coach or a mentor or support group, get one. We serve people in that way. Obviously, I coach. We have master coaches here at the Emerging Edge Community as well as Mastermind and in the Emergence Academy, which is a very inexpensive way to get that kind of support on an on-going basis. Wherever you get it, get it because you need it. We all do.

(Bonus Episode) The Mighty Mo: How to Create Real Momentum

(Bonus Episode) The Mighty Mo: How to Create Real Momentum

The biggest challenges for many of us is either getting and keeping momentum, or having momentum, but it going the opposite direction – downward momentum.

For the latter, it’s like having one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. We have a downward pull, and then we’re simultaneously having upward pull. If you’re driving and pushing to make stuff happen in your life, it’s because you’ve got momentum going in two directions.

The worst thing that we try to do when we’re pushing and pushing is to push more, or push harder, at least in same the way that we’ve been pushing.

We must notice where is the momentum going in the opposite direction. This is one of the deeper esoteric meanings of the Biblical statement, “Where two or more are gathered in agreement, there I am in the midst of them.” The two or more can certainly be two or more people as in a church, organization, spiritual organization, but it also represents the two or more aspects of ourselves – the conscious, the unconscious, the mental, emotional, physical. When all of those are in agreement, moving in the same direction, then you activate the larger pattern of your potential, and you have real momentum.

This is also one of the meanings behind the Biblical statement that you cannot serve two masters, or you will be a house divided and a house divided cannot stand. A lot of times, when we’re feeling stuck and we’re lacking real momentum, it’s because we’re trying to serve two masters. We are ambitious. We are, on one hand, going for something and then the other hand not believing it’s going to happen or not believing that we’re worthy, or whatever the case may be. We can’t get real momentum.

As the core of the Emergence work, we want to ultimately bring all of our life into congruence, into integrity with our biggest vision – all going in the same direction. That’s what develops the optimal level of momentum.

As we hit new levels of growth and unfoldment, we hit new thresholds. Those unconscious limited beliefs, or just those areas that need to be activated more fully, they come up, and they create these road blocks that slow us down. We have to look at them, whether it’s a shadow, a values conflict or just developing ourselves.

One of the biggest of misunderstandings and things we tell ourselves is “I’m stuck.” We believe that we actually can be stuck. The truth is you can never really be stuck, no matter what the situation is. Even if you’re literally bedridden right now – there’s four core areas where you can get momentum. They are mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. (We could even say energetically, because you can actually separate out the energetics of it.)

If one of those areas is difficult or closed off at the moment, like being bedridden, you could sit and visualize and imagine yourself playing your sport and repeating it over and over, just getting it down to the most minute detail until you are just playing basketball masterfully. You see every little move of your hand. You can watch the best highlights of the golf swing and then imagine yourself doing it. Believe it or not, you are developing that skill mentally and emotionally, and creating real momentum.

This is true in any area. By practicing your talents, your gifts, your skills, at any level and any moment, there’s always a next step that you can do mentally and emotionally. There’s always something you can do to move forward.

The way you keep taking your life to higher levels is you have to habituate whatever level you’re working towards, so that that becomes a subconscious subjective pattern or habit. When you’re thinking about building momentum, it’s not just about going from zero to 60 quickly. Sometimes that’s necessary, but it’s more about developing the habits, to ultimately put momentum on autopilot.

Habit is ultimately what determines your character, and your character is what determines your destiny. Especially if you’re going, what seems to be going backwards, it requires patience as you’re building these new habits, because at first it might appear like you’re not getting any momentum.

If you try to move a big giant ship that is going in one direction, you turn it, you won’t see it turning right away – it takes time.

You can’t always judge by appearances where there’s real progress. If you’re building these habits based on your highest vision and based on the character you want to develop, then you are on the right track. It doesn’t have to be this grand high faluting vision. It’s just whatever that thing is you most feel and inspired to move towards.

You’re designing a way of life that allows you to mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and energetically start moving everything towards that direction.

At the most simplest level, how you get the Mighty Mo is to start moving… Move yourself emotionally, move yourself mentally, move yourself spiritually, and move yourself physically – you can always move no matter what, no matter who you are.

To support you in mastering this, listen to the in-depth podcast on the subject, where we break it down and put it into real-life practice TODAY. This will be a real game-changer.

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Greetings, my fellow Emergineers. Derek Rydall here, and it’s so good to be with you again as we’re talking about the Mighty Mo, how to create real momentum in your life, even if your life is standing still or it’s going backwards. This is such an important aspect. The Mighty Mo obviously stands for momentum. Mighty Mo, Uncle Mo – it’s all about momentum. For so many of us, and of you, one of the biggest challenges is getting and keeping momentum. Ultimately, the reason why we don’t create momentum is a variety of things. We’re going to talk about that. A lot of us do have momentum, it’s just we have momentum that’s going either in the opposite direction, it’s downward momentum, or we have dual momentum. It’s like we have one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. We have a downward pull, and then we’re simultaneously having upward pull. If you’re driving and pushing to make stuff happen in your life, it’s because you’ve got momentum going in two directions.

This is called ambition. Ambition means you’re going in two directions at the same time. It’s like the Zen statement of trying to ride two horses at the same time that are going in different directions. When you’re pushing and struggling, oftentimes it’s because on one hand, you’ve got momentum going down or going backwards, or, for example, you’ve got an emotional or mental momentum in the direction of It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to work. Then, you are physically pushing and maybe mentally on some level also pushing, I’ve got to make it work. I’ve got to make it work. I’vegot to make it work. Again, it’s like running in place. It’s like running on a treadmill, or worse, having one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas. This is what creates burnout and ultimately overwhelm and breakdown.

The worst thing that we try to do when we’re pushing and pushing and pushing is just push more, just push harder, at least in the way that we’ve been pushing. It doesn’t mean we don’t want to keep working, but we don’t want to keep working or pushing in the way we have been. We want to notice where is the momentum going in the opposite direction, and how can we get all of us going in the same direction? This is one of the deeper esoteric meanings of the Biblical statement, Where two or more are gathered in agreement, there I am in the midst of them. The two or more can certainly be two or more people as in a church, organization, spiritual organization, but it also represents the two or more aspects of ourselves – the conscious, the unconscious, the mental, emotional, physical. When all of those are in agreement, moving in the same direction, then you activate the larger pattern of your potential, and you have real momentum. This is also one of the meanings behind the Biblical statement that you cannot serve two masters, or you will be a house divided and a house divided cannot stand. So, a lot of times, when we’re feeling stuck and we’re lacking real momentum, it’s because we’re just trying to serve two masters. We are ambitious. We are on one hand going for something, and then the other hand not believing it’s going to happen, not believing that we’re worthy, or whatever the case may be. We can’t get real momentum. Now, we’re just pushing and pushing and forcing or alternatively, we give up.Ultimately, as the core of the Emergence work, we wanted to ultimately bring all of our life into congruence, into integrity with our biggest vision, all going in the same direction. That’s what develops the optimal level of momentum. We’re not going to build or do it consistently forever and perfectly forever as we’re continuing to grow and unfold. As we hit new levels of growth and unfoldment, we hit new thresholds. Those unconscious limited beliefs, or just those areas that need to be activated more

Ultimately, as the core of the Emergence work, we wanted to ultimately bring all of our life into congruence, into integrity with our biggest vision, all going in the same direction. That’s what develops the optimal level of momentum. We’re not going to build or do it consistently forever and perfectly forever as we’re continuing to grow and unfold. As we hit new levels of growth and unfoldment, we hit new thresholds. Those unconscious limited beliefs, or just those areas that need to be activated more fully, they come up, and they create these road blocks that slow us down, and we have to look at them, whether it’s a shadow or values conflict or just developing ourselves. One of the biggest of misunderstandings and things we tell ourselves is I’m stuck. We believe that we actually can be stuck. We slipped into feeling like a victim and either don’t do anything, spend our time getting momentum around how much Ben & Jerry’s, Chunky Monkey or New York Super Fudge Chunk we can eat. We get a lot of momentum with that spoon and not enough momentum in the area that really matters most to us.

The truth is you can never really be stuck, no matter what the situation is. Let’s just say physically you are impaired and you’re bedridden, and let’s say you’re an athlete, and you’re like, You don’t understand, Derek, I can’t get momentum in the area of my athletic growth, because I’m literally bedridden right now. That’s not true, because there’s three core areas, or really four, where you can get momentum. That is mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We could even say energetically, because actually you can separate out the energetics of it. So, you can get momentum in all those areas. If one of those areas is difficult or closed off at the moment, like you’re bedridden, you could sit there and visualize and imagine yourself playing your sport and repeating it over and over and over and just getting it down to the most minute detail until you are just playing basketball masterfully, or whatever the thing may be, and you see every little move of your hand. You can be watching the best highlights of golf swing or whatever, and then imagine yourself doing it. Believe it or not, and I think you do believe it, you are developing that skill just mentally and emotionally, and creating real momentum.

In fact, they’ve done a study where they had three groups. One was practicing basketball, going out there and doing the drills. The other one was just visualizing themselves practicing, and the other group was visualizing and practicing. The one that was visualizing did just as good as the one that was just practicing their skill level and their growth. The one that visualized and practiced did better than both of them. The key is that they could just visualize practicing, and they were able to grow their skill level and be on par with those that were just physically practicing. This is true in the area. You might say, I don’t have the capacity to go…͟ It will be another example. Maybe you think something requires money to launch your business or something. In fact, it really doesn’t, but you could be visualizing it. You could be practicing your talents, your gifts, your skills. At any level at any moment, there’s always a next step that you can do mentally, emotionally. You could be working on your mental games that you are embodying the mental mindset for whatever it is the next stage of your life. You could be working on your emotional game so that you are emotionally resilient and activating the high quality positive emotions. You can be working on physically, meaning any of the physical attributes – walking, talking, creating, developing, and then energetically increasing your energy and energy flow in your body and radiating and expanding your energy field, and spiritually – prayer, meditation. There’s always something you can do to move forward.

deally, like I said at the start, you want to bring all of these in line with your highest vision, your deeper desire, so they’re all moving in the same direction. In some cases, some periods, one or more of them aren’t moving in the same direction, but if you get enough of them moving, it pulls the other one with you. When you are feeling stuck or stagnant or overwhelmed or burned out or doing a lot of pushing and forcing, as I said, you want to begin to identify where you are going in opposite directions. What do you really believe about this? What do you really feel about this? Likewise, if you’re just doing affirmations and meditation, but you’re not taking any physical action, that could be the missing piece to create real momentum. If you’re just sitting around affirming, I’m rich. I’m abundant. I’m successful. I’m a powerful coach, leader, teacher, author or whatever but you’re not actually writing every day or taking steps to get new clients or whatever the case may be, then you can feel and experience yourself being stuck. It’s what I called coming spiritually or affirmatively constipated, because you’re activating all this energy, but you’re not expressing it. So, if you do have the capability to be taking other actions in these other dimensions then you want to be doing that. You don’t want to be just affirming that you’re abundant. You want to be taking actions of an abundant person. You want to be generating emotions of an abundant person and having conversations like an abundant person. Little bit by little bit, you bring your whole life into integrity, into congruence.

The other thing about momentum is to understand ultimately you want to put momentum on autopilot. What this means is that understanding that what we mostly live by is habits. Most of our life is run by habits – mental, emotional, physical habits, even energetic patterns that had become habitual. So, you want to be aware of that. The way you keep taking your life to higher levels is you have to habituate whatever level you’re working towards, so that that becomes a subconscious subjective pattern or habit. When you’re thinking about building momentum, it’s not just about going from zero to 60 quickly. Sometimes that’s necessary as soon as you have to just come out of the gate fast and furious. It’s more about what are the habits, what are the daily habits? It might not look like you’re getting a lot of momentum if you’re just writing a hundred words a day. What happens is, over time, suddenly those hundreds add up, and it adds up literally to pages and pages. When you start to have a stack of pages in front of you, it affects your emotional and mental outlook on it. You start to develop a consciousness of having of abundance, of things that are happening. All these difference start to connect, and they create momentum. You may not see it right away.

Momentum is not always about being busy. In fact, oftentimes when you’re busy you don’t have real momentum. Busyness does not equal being productive, doing what matters most does. You somewhat had to sacrifice busyness for building habits, for doing the right thing, the most important thing, and doing it consistently even, and especially, when it’s not urgent – sitting and meditating every day, not only when you’re in a bad place. You don’t want to just have foxhole consciousness where you’re only going to pray and meditate when you’re in the foxhole and the bullets are wheezing over your head. You build the practice until meditation becomes a habit. You notice throughout the day it starts to have a transferring effect, and you start to think about and tap into, regularly, this prayer without ceasing. It starts to build momentum. You start going to the gym or walking around the block every day. At first, you don’t see any results and don’t feel like it’s making a difference, but it starts to build momentum. Habit is what we’re most after. More than we want just a quick fix or a quick results, we want to know that we’re designing a way of life through our habits that ultimately building our character. It’s like this is just the kind of person I am. I meditate every day. I work on my creativity every day. I exercise every day or multiple times a week. I spend this kind of time with family, friends, and loved ones on a regular basis. I put in X amount of time in building my business every day. This is just who I am. That becomes a habit and a way of life. As Confucius said, All men are the same, but it is their habits that separate them.

Habit is ultimately what determines your character, and your character is what determines your destiny. Especially if you’re going what seems to be going backwards, sometimes you have to be patient as you’re building these new habits, because at first it might appear like you’re not getting any momentum. If you try to move a big giant ship that is going in one direction, you turn it, and you don’t see it turning right away. It takes time. I’ve used the analogy of the racecar that’s sliding towards the wall. You turn the wheel the opposite way, turning it away from the wall towards the track, but it’s got momentum still and it slides towards the wall. You could be like, Oh, my God. It’s not working. It’s not working. Then, you turn the wheel. You look at the wall again, and the wheel turns back towards the wall, and you hit the wall. If you are willing to turn away from the wall, the problem, the place that you’re sliding towards, the momentum that you don’t want, this backwards momentum, and you keep your attention on the road and on the finish line and where you want to go, at some point, the wheels catch. The momentum in the opposite direction gets stopped, and you reverse course. There’s a period a lot of times when you’re going backwards, where it feels like you’re doing all this stuff and it’s still sliding towards the wall. I’m doing all this stuff, and I’m not losing any weight. I’m doing all this stuff, and I’m not getting any clients. I’m doing all this stuff, and I’m not feeling better, but then there’s an inflection point where all that you’ve done catches up and the tires catch, and you’re back on track again.

You have to be patient. You can’t always judge by appearances where there’s real progress. If you’re building these habits based on your highest vision, you’re building habits that are based on the character you want to develop, then you are on the right track. Does that mean you’ll never hit the wall? No. If you don’t do this, you’re almost certain to hit the wall. You’re taking your ideal vision of where you want to go. It doesn’t have to be this grand high faluting vision. It’s just whatever that thing is you most feel and inspired to move towards. You’re designing a way of life that allows you to mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and energetically start moving everything towards that direction. That does include your inner and your outer environment. Your outer environment helps to either create momentum or recharge momentum, to speed it up or to slow it down. If you’ve got relationships, activities and spaces that are cluttered or that are negative or that are not aligned with where you want to go, every time you see that picture or watch that program or listen to that music or talk to that person that it is energetically, emotionally going in a different direction, you are slowing your momentum down. You want to design a life inside and out that represents where you want to go and not where you’ve been or even necessarily where you are. You see that inspiring image or picture or token. You watch that inspiring program and listen to that inspiring audio. All of that develops momentum energetically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. You have conversations with people that are inspiring, that speak life into you, that are living their own life and that begins to bring momentum.

You’re designing a way of life inside and out that is about where you want to go, not where you’ve been. That’s how you build a reality that supports momentum. You do the daily practices that build the kinds of habits that represent the kind of character that you would be if you were living your ideal destiny. Regardless of where you’ve been or what you’re experiencing, you build those habits. In those areas where you really don’t feel like you can take action, then you focus on another area. As I said, if you just are feeling emotionally you’re so out of line, then you focus on what can I do physically. If I’m not feeling happy, what would a happy person do? I’m not able to generate happiness internally, let me find a way to do something physically, and now you have physical momentum, and then you activate emotional momentum. When you’re in that emotionally high place, that’s the best time to do your affirmations and your practice. Now you activate mental momentum and spiritual momentum. You see? You don’t have to wait. You just find your entry point, the place you can begin to move, and you go there. You don’t go, Oh, affirmations aren’t doing it for me today. I guess I’m screwed. No. If that’s not working, what can you do? Maybe you put on the piece of music and you dance. Suddenly, you’re feeling inspired again. You’re feeling energized. Now, say your affirmations or if none of that is working, maybe again, if I say emotionally you’re not feeling inspired to do the work you want to do, what can you do? Maybe you listen to a song, you take some physical action. You go out in nature or you call out a friend or whatever, but there’s always some next step. You don’t give yourself the luxury of being stuck.

Sometimes, what you need to continue and to stay in momentum is to do nothing. Nothing isn’t really a nothing, it’s an active resting. Remember that sound without space is just noise. Sound with the proper spacing is music. Action without rest is chaos. Action with the proper rest becomes productivity, creativity. Resting and space, both physical, mental, and emotional space, is a key component to creating momentum and to sustaining momentum. One of my favorite sayings is, play until you need to rest; rest until you want to play again. So, it’s a balance. Sometimes when you’re not feeling momentum and you’re pushing and pushing, stopping and becoming still is the most important thing you can do to get back on track again. The key is that wherever you are right now, begin where you are. Find that area where is your entry point and begin to align it with your bigger vision, and then one by one bring the rest of your life into alignment with it.

Now, what are some of the other things that prevent momentum? What are some of the areas we get stuck in? One is waiting. You’re waiting for some conditions to be right. You’re waiting for some person to be different. You’re feeling like a victim of them or of the situation. You’re wondering why you’re stuck. Whatever you’re waiting for, you’re waiting with, and then you’re weighing it down. Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens through you. Whatever’s missing is what you’re not giving. When you’re waiting telling yourself, Well, I’ll do this when, or I’ll start this when, you’ve got to ask yourself, how can I start this now? I’ll start to do this or be this way when that person treats me this way or respects me more. Well, how can you start respecting yourself now? We don’t want to wait. Now, there is a Divine waiting in the sense that you’re doing the work, you’ve done the work, and you’re in that resting period again, which is a very conscious resting. If you find yourself saying, I can’t do this thing that I want to do. I can’t move towards it and create momentum until something outside of me changes or even something inside of me, like I use the example before Well, I can’t really feel happy today because I can’t say affirmations. They’re not working, and so I’m just going to wait until happiness in me. No, what can you do to generate that feeling, to make create momentum?

The other one, again, talking about emotions and feelings, is emotional reasoning. We say, Well, I just don’t feel like it. I want to write today, but I just don’t feel inspired, and then we don’t. We don’t write. I want to do this thing. I want to go exercise, but I just don’t feel like it. We’ve grown up being conditioned to believe that’s a logical reason not to do it. In fact, it’s not. It’s emotional reasoning. It’s a cognitive disorder, because your emotions don’t determine your actions. Your emotions don’t have any actual power over you, so you don’t want to let them determine your actions. You want to let your vision determine your actions, and then take the actions of a person who’s feeling the way you want to feel, and you’ll start to generate those feelings. Start to hold yourself the way a person holds. There’s been plenty of studies to show that our physiology, the way we use our physiology has a big part into how we feel emotionally. Right now, if you want to experience depression, you can do that. You can slump your shoulders, you can look down, you can slow your voice down, lower the register of it, and start to feel more depressed, or you can straighten your back and you can raise your voice a little bit and speed up a little bit and keep your gaze upward, and you start to feel better. That is where you took a depressed person and had them stand up on a table, back straight, head held high, looking up, say, Okay, now, tell me what you’re depressed about, and the person would have to lower their head and look down to access that information. If they didn’t let them, you said, You’ve got to keep your eyes up, keep your head up, keep your back straight. Now, tell me what you’re depressed about. They literally couldn’t access their depression. So, use your physiology, use your body, use that to create momentum.

Another thing that obviously stops momentum is our judgments, otherwise known as our shadows. We want to move in a particular direction, we’re hitting a threshold, and when we look and say, What am I afraid that’s going to happen if I do this? Oh, I’m going to fail, and then what would I make that mean about me or what would others think about me? You’re a loser, you’re a failure, you’re stupid, and so that’s why we’re not moving forward. So, you want to then stop, write that down and begin to address that very specifically and practically in shadow work. You don’t want to stop moving. You don’t want to go get that would be a good excuse for you to take a break for the next week and just do nothing but work on your shadow. You want to still take productive action in the direction of your vision. Now that you know there’s a judgment, there’s a shadow there, you’re not going to get caught in emotional reasoning and wait till you feel better about it, till you don’t feel afraid. You’re still going to take that action, but you’re also now going to work on the shadow which is equivalent to taking your foot off the brake. So, you still have your foot on the gas, but you’re now going to ease your foot off the brake by doing the shadow work.

The same thing is true with values conflicts. That’s where you want two different things, but they seem opposed to each other. You want space and freedom, and you want success and abundance. In your mind, they’ve been wired where in order to get success and abundance, you have to sacrifice space and freedom or time and freedom. In order to have time and freedom, you have to sacrifice success and abundance. You’re upbringing your experiences, that’s how you’ve been conditioned to believe. Of course, it’s not true, but it’s the map you’ve created. It’s the way your neurology has been wired. You discover by when you’re feeling stuck, you can ask questions like, if I achieve this or get this or do that, I’m afraid I’ll lose _____ or I’m afraid I’ll have to sacrifice _____. Do that question and answer period 5 or 10 times till you come up with a variety of things and start to see the pattern.I’m afraid if I really go for this, I’m going to have not enough time for myself. If I really go for this, it can take me away from family.

That’s a values conflict, and then you need to create a values affirmation, which is the more I do this or go for this, the more of this other thing I have, too. The more of this other thing I have and honor, the more of this other thing I go for. For example, the more successful and abundant I am in the world, the more time and freedom I have. The more I honor my legitimate need for time and freedom, the more inspired and empowered I am to create incredible success and abundance in the world. That becomes like a mantra, a values affirmation that rewires that, and so you begin to use that on a regular basis. You keep moving in the direction that your vision is calling. Again, you don’t wait to get the values affirmation all worked out, but now that becomes part of your daily practice while you’re also taking action.

This is why I created what I called the quantum plan. It’s not just outer action, outer action, outer action. It’s a plan that incorporates the objective and subjective parts of your brain of your awareness. You are developing and refining your daily practice in terms of building your inner life and the inner structures so that your inner life is moving in the same direction as your outer life. You’re working on both streams not one or the other and not one at the expense of the other. You don’t just stop outer actions to only work on inner actions. You don’t just stop inner action to only work on outer action which happens, right? We get so busy, we stop doing our daily practice. We lose momentum emotionally and spiritually, and then we wonder why the other action starts to lose momentum, and we start to feel tired or burned out or stressed or unclear. We focused all of our attention on the inner action, and once we hit a threshold, we stop the outer action, and then we wonder why we lose momentum and start to feel congested, constipated, sluggish, depressed. I’m doing all this meditation, prayer, affirmation, I’m depressed – because you’re not taking action. You’re not expressing it. You’re not circulating it. You’ve let go the outer for the inner or you let go of the inner for the outer. You become stressed, overwhelmed, burned out when you let go the outer for the inner. You become depressed, sluggish. So, you want to have both streams going, and then you put that together as part of your quantum plan so you’ve got a daily inner practice and a daily outer practice. All of it is aligned with your biggest vision. As you bump into those thresholds, you look deeper, you see what it’s really all about. Is it am I waiting for something? Is it emotional reasoning? Is it judgment or shadow? Is it values conflict? I add that piece to my daily practice. I keep moving outside and I got momentum again.

This is how you get the Mighty Mo. At the most simple level, how do you get momentum? You start moving. That’s the most basic level. Just start moving. Again, that doesn’t mean just physically start moving. It means just start moving in some capacity. Move yourself emotionally. Move yourself mentally. Move yourself spiritually. Move yourself physically. Again, when I use physical, that doesn’t just mean like walking. It means speaking, moving your body, expressing yourself creatively, etc. but just start moving. If you are moving in one of those dimensions, look at the other dimensions and see are you moving there too? If not, start getting that moving. This is how you create real momentum and really no longer can ever be stuck again. It doesn’t mean you won’t have challenges, you won’t have setbacks, you won’t have problems, you won’t feel bad some days but it won’t stop you. You won’t feel like a victim of it. Even if you do feel like a victim of it, you’ll look at that, you’ll do something about it. You won’t just stop. Eventually, this all becomes subjective. It becomes habit. Your life becomes now automatically designed. It starts to automatically produce this momentum. That habit pattern now develops your character. You literally evolve, you literally change, you literally become different, and now you’ve changed your destiny.

hope this has served you. I hope this has inspired you to find greater momentum, to realize that you can always move no matter what, no matter who you are. Stephen Hawking can’t move his body at all, but he certainly doesn’t have a lack of momentum in his life. Helen Keller couldn’t see or hear or speak very well, but it didn’t stop her from having momentum in her life. Many people have lost everything, gone bankrupt, had great tragedies, but they found that entry point to create momentum in their life. Wherever you are now, you can create real momentum and increase momentum. I invite you to pick one or two things you can do today to get momentum in some area where you felt otherwise stuck. Pick one or two things, and then share that in the Facebook group where you’re going to generate more momentum. Share that with your accountability partner. If you don’t have one, that’s a great way to get momentum. Get an accountability partner. Just reach out to somebody in the group. You’ll be off to the races. Just take a moment and just drop down into this field of grace, this prayer field. At least throw ourselves wide open. There’s always something trying to emerge, always more life, more light, more love, more truth, more beauty, more abundance. We just open ourselves now and the silence of our soul, we set an intention. We’re willing. We’re ready to be ever greater instruments of life and all of its many qualities than ever before. We’re available to more good than we’ve ever experienced or imagined. We’re available to be used more powerfully, more completely than we’ve ever imagined. We’re willing despite all appearances, all conditions, all past. We’re willing to be used. We’re willing to fulfill our purpose. We’re willing to be of service. We’re willing to be bigger, better, stronger, more awake, aware, creative than we’ve ever imagined. We’re just engaging willingness. I’m willing. I’m ready. I’m able. Use me. Send me.

Just take a moment and just drop down into this field of grace, this prayer field. At least throw ourselves wide open. n this openness, in this availability, the whole Universe rushes to this place called each and every one of us, because it’s always looking for willing instrument to put itself on display. We’re just so available now, so willing. If any thoughts popped up, like a fear that somehow this is going to cause this to go in the wrong direction, or that God or life is going to somehow want us to do something we don’t, or that we’re going to have to sacrifice, we just notice any of that resistance. We bless it, and we release it, and we say I’m willing. I’m willing. I’m willing. Use me, life. Use me, God. Send me. Take over. Take over my whole life that it may become a transparency for the will of god, for the highest pattern of good, that my life may reveal and reflect the true order and harmony and abundance and beauty of the Universe and help and liberate and inspire and set others free along with me.

Wherever I’ve got and seemingly stuck, wherever I’ve created an excuse for why I can’t, why I’m not able, I’m willing not to let that remove. I’m willing for my life to just be a pure open channel for the full power and presence and love and brilliance of the universe of God. Like a mighty river rushing downhill without a boulder inside, I’m willing, I’m ready. Thy will be done. Whatever I need to see, feel, sense, embrace, release, speak, or do to be a channel and an instrument in the place where life can fulfill itself, where my destiny of greatness can be fulfilled, I’m ready and I’m willing now. No holds barred. In this space now, this flow continues to unfold. It finds all the pockets that are seemingly blocked and it opens them. Wherever where hungry were fed, wherever where thirsty were quenched, this energy, this flow now moves through our entire mind, body, heart and life transforming and transmuting everything to serve its higher purpose that we may truly fulfill that great and grand reason for which we came. It’s happening now. Breathe and receive this. Allow it. Allow gratitude to well up and so it is. Amen.

Ask Derek: How Do I Manifest More Money or Anything?

Ask Derek: How Do I Manifest More Money or Anything?

First it’s important to understand the true nature of manifestation.

Manifesting, from the Emergence model – from the truth principle, is not about making something happen or appear that does not yet exist. To make something manifest to is to make that which is already happening, (but is invisible, intangible, or inaudible) tangible, audible – manifest.

I like to use the analogy of the radio station to help explain this… Your favorite music is playing right now on some station, but it’s not manifest until you tune your dial into the frequency where that music is broadcasting. When your dial matches the dial where the station is and where the broadcast is happening, that music becomes manifest.

You didn’t make it happen. You made it welcome. It wasn’t in the future. It wasn’t in the distance. The music was broadcasting right where you are, but you needed to come into vibrational alignment or attunement with it. The minute that alignment happened, that station became manifest, or as I like to say, you had a “manifest-station”, a manifestation.

Listen to the in-depth podcast on the subject to get the full explanation, and learn how to put it into real-life practice TODAY. This will be a real game-changer.

To Your Emergence!

Welcome to another episode of Ask Derek. This is Derek Rydall. Not the sage on the stage, but your guide on the side for this journey of emergence, and with these episodes we’re dealing with core questions that have either been specifically asked, or that are most commonly asked, and this a very common question, how do I manifest more money, or just how do I manifest more, or how do I manifest period? It’s a very common question, and there’s a few things that are important to understand. The first thing is to understand what really is manifestation? Manifesting, from the Emergence model, really from the truth principle, is not about making something happen or appear that does not yet exist. To make something manifest to is to make that which is already happening, but is invisible or intangible or inaudible tangible, audible, manifest.

For example, when I’ve used the analogy of the radio station. Your favorite music is playing on some station, but it’s not manifest until you tune your dial into the frequency where that music is broadcasting. When your dial matches the dial where the station is, where the broadcast is happening, that music becomes manifest. Now, you didn’t make it happen. You made it welcome. It wasn’t in the future. It wasn’t in the distance. The music was broadcasting right where you are, but you needed to come into vibrational alignment or attunement with it. The minute that alignment happened, that station became manifest, or as I like to say, you had a manifest-station, a manifestation.

The same thing is true, all manifestation is making that which is invisible visible, making an invisible idea or activity or quality visible. Now, why is that important? Because even just beginning to know that and coming from that place you understand why it’s so important that you are in the feeling tone and the vibration of the thing you want to manifest, even before it’s manifest. Right? You have to be tuned into the radio station before the radio station becomes manifest, just as you’re tuning in. It’s not going to come manifest before you get to that alignment. You have to be in alignment, right? It’s important when you don’t understand this context you’re often trying to manifest from a sense of separation and limitation, from a premise that something’s missing, something’s broken, something’s lacking, something’s wrong. You don’t have it. It’s not happening. It’s in the distance, in the future. They have it, and now you’re going to try to attract it, achieve it, manipulate it, etc. That’s a recipe for resistance, struggle, stress, suffering, and even greater limitation ultimately. Even if you manifest a bigger paycheck on that level, you will just find yourself broke at a higher income bracket. Okay?

The second thing is to really, I’m just going to say right out of the gate, we have to get out of magical thinking. This isn’t magic. It’s not like say a prayer, say an affirmation, do nothing, and poof, your life changes. Now, is it possible that you come into such alignment with the truth of your being that a miracle can happen, which is simply the instant demonstration or instant manifestation of that which is always going on? Absolutely it can. As I say, plan your life as if you’re doing all the work, then live your life as if God is. So you’re open to the miracle. You’re open to the spontaneous breakthrough and insight. You’re open to the spontaneous acceleration, but you can’t plan for that. You can’t make a plan to have a miracle. Right? You have to live your life or plan your life and be going about your life in a very real and practical way, but in the consciousness and the context of the vibration that it’s already done, that it’s already happening, that you’re already enough, that you’ve already arrived, and that miracles and spontaneous revelation is breaking out everywhere all the time. You live in that context, but you don’t wait for that to happen, and you don’t plan for that to happen. You do your practice and your prayer work and your inner work to become the consciousness and the context for that to happen, but then you get busy. You get to work. Right? You till that field, and you cultivate that soil, and you plant those seeds, and you water and weed and feed them, whether it’s the seeds of a literal garden or the seeds of creating financial abundance, or the seeds of a relationship, or wherever you want a great bountiful harvest in your life, in your work, in your relationships, with your clientele, with your practice, with your body. You live in the context and the consciousness that it’s already done, it’s already whole, complete, perfect, fulfilled, abundant, but then you absolutely have to get to work.

So we have to let go of magical thinking. It’s not like in the movie The Secret where you just dream and visualize a red bicycle, and it literally shows up at your front door. Again, I’m not saying that can’t happen. I’m saying that is really not how it normally occurs. There’s a reason for that. One of the reasons is that the process of doing the work play on a daily basis, of doing whatever it takes to get the result, in the context of truth, causes you to bump into thresholds, causes you to discover unconscious limited beliefs and patterns, causes you to develop your character and to build and embody qualities and activities of your soul in a permanent way, so that you actually are evolving. The real reason for goals is the evolution of your soul. If you just merely manifest more stuff, but you have not evolved in any way, that’s not real growth. There’s no real evolution there. There’s just manipulation of material.

Sometimes we don’t get the red bike appearing at our door. Sometimes, and most times, things don’t just poof, manifest out of thin air, because we are in a process of evolution, of discovering and uncovering more of our real self and anchoring and integrating and embodying it. So you’ve got to get to work, and you bring the joy and the peace and the gratitude and the celebration as if it’s already done to bear on whatever you’re doing. While you’re tilling that field, you bring the joy of the bountiful harvestto it. As the old Indian prayer is, you don’t just pray for rain, you pray rain. You pray and affirm from the consciousness as if the rain is falling and soaking you and soaking the ground and the harvest comes, and you eat the bounty, and everybody’s full and happy. From that place, now you pray. It’s from that place you get to work, and you write that book, or you go out and get that job, or you deliver that value to your clients, whatever it is.

I just want to make sure I’m disavowing you of any magical thinking, and this comes down to sometimes in this work we really just need to do some very basic, very practical things, and we’re avoiding the most obvious practical things. Like if you don’t have enough money, it’s amazing how many times I’ve seen people that don’t have enough money, and I say, do you have a job? They’re like, no. I’m like, that might be a good place to start. They’re like, but that’s not my mission and my purpose. My purpose is to be a bestselling author or create a thriving healing practice. I’m like, that’s great. That’s wonderful, and get a job, because there’s something in you needing to get that job and how it’s going to develop you. You’re not going to succeed in spite of the job, but because of it. I speak from very personal experiences around this. If you have to get a job to pay your bills, or you have to get two jobs to not only pay your bills, but have enough money to invest in your business and your education, then you get two jobs.

I don’t know if you heard the story about that woman that was on Oprah that lived in Africa in a little hut and ultimately wanted to be a doctor, and eventually ended up finding a way to America, New York. I think she had three or five kids, and ultimately kicked her husband out, because he was no good bum, and ended up working somewhere in the neighborhood of three jobs, raising three to five kids, while going to school full time and getting her doctorate. After I heard that, I was like I’ve just got no excuses. I’m not saying you have to be raising five kids, working three jobs, and going to full time school to become a doctor to prove that you’re really in this game, but when you look at that you have to look at yourself and go, am I really doing everything I can? If I need more money to invest in my growth and education, am I going and getting a job or two? If I really want to get more clients, am I really doing everything I can, or am I just doing a few things here and there? Am I making five calls a day? Am I going to events? Really.

Then that brings us to a very powerful but deceptively simple process called the 25 ways to manifest more. It’s as simple and as difficult as taking out a sheet of paper or your journal and writing down 25 ways you can manifest that result you want. If it’s more money, write 25 ways you can manifest more money. There are no ridiculous ways, but start with all the ways that you can think of that are real and practical. It could be getting a job, getting two jobs, asking for more hours at your current job, looking for additional projects at your current job. It can be selling things that you don’t need. It can be going out and getting new clients, offering your services at a deep discount for a short period to get a bunch of new clients or new opportunities. It can be going back to previous clients or opportunities and revitalizing them, going to existing clients and looking to add more value, upsell, side sell, downsell, supplementary, complementary offers and opportunities.

Like I’ve told the story of the gardener who mowed and blowed, the mow and blow model like most gardeners, but he began to look around and notice, really get to know the family and what their needs were and what their interests were, and he began to come up with a list of possible projects that could add more value to their life, their yard, their landscape, hardscape, different aspects around the house, building projects that he maybe could do, ways to do the garden differently or trim the hedges in the shapes of animals or whatever. He began to make these proposals to his clients, and one by one clients would accept one or more of these proposals, and he ended up doubling and tripling and really rapidly growing a business. Whereas all the other gardeners had the same opportunities, but they weren’t doing it. They weren’t looking for the opportunities. They weren’t becoming an opportunity machine. They didn’t realize that they were the Divine power plant, and a power plant doesn’t receive energy, it generates it.

You’re a power plant. You can generate opportunity. Remember, from the Emergence model whatever is missing is what you’re not giving. Life doesn’t happen to you. It happens through you and as you. You’re a storehouse of infinite riches, but you have to start circulating it by asking and by giving. So doing the 25 ways to manifest more is a very powerful practical way to begin to unlock possibilities and get the creative juices flowing, so that you’re not just thinking there’s one or two ways here, but there’s literally infinite organizing power. That means there is infinite ways that the Universe can manifest your need, infinite. So if you think there’s only one or two or 10, you haven’t even begun. As you start to come up with more and more ideas, the ideas start to mate with each other, and new ideas get born. It becomes this plus this equals this. So now the ideas on your list start to create a whole new level, other levels of possibility, insights, opportunities. It’s a very powerful practice, and if it’s hard to do 25, then do 30. If it’s easy to do 25, do 50. You want to stretch yourself. You want to get past the obvious and begin to really open up, and that doesn’t mean the obvious ideas aren’t great ones. It’s just you want to really let this be a process to activate your creative thinking mechanism.

Now you have a list of ideas, and then you want to look for the ones that you can begin to embrace right away, the low hanging fruit. I already mentioned some of those. If you’ve got clients, going back to old clients and revitalizing them is one of the fastest ways to get new business. Going to existing clients and looking for new ways to add value to them, or your existing clients or list, family, friends, etc. and offering a really great deal. Just offering your services to family and friends at a really great deal, or even offering it for free for the first time in order to enroll them into more, a bigger package or ongoing support or service, or whatever your talents, gifts, and abilities are. Beginning to look at all the possible areas that they could serve.

This is the very practical and pragmatic approach to manifesting more. Now, once you come up with a list, you want to create a plan, so that you’re actually going to do these things. You’re going to live on purpose, not on accident. You’re not going to wake up and hope. You’re going to trade in your wishbone for a backbone, and you’re going to actually have a plan and put it on your schedule, and then do it whether you feel like it or not. This is what builds character. This is what builds self-esteem. You’re also going to have a practice, a daily practice. Remember, this is part of the core Emergence work, what I call the LIFT practice, Living In the Feeling Tone. If you haven’t listened to that podcast yet, please listen to it. You want to have a practice through meditation, prayer, affirmation, and just the activities you do in your day and the people you hang out with, and the things you consume in terms of media, etc.

You want to begin to design a way of life that activates a feeling tone as if this thing you want to manifest is already done. Visualization, vibration, radiation process, you get a free download of that at my site, DerekRydall.com in the free resources. I invite you to do that on a daily basis, and even more than once a day. You can use the LIFT practice to begin to refine and design your life and your relationships and your conversations so that you are eliminating things that bring your vibration down and put you in a state of lack, limitation, fear, doubt, and worry, which are not congruent with where you want to be. That’s tuning you into station K-LACK, instead of K-RICH. Then designing things into your life that do tune you into K-RICH, movies, music, TV, magazines, conversations, friends, environments that make you feel connected, abundant, successful, expanded, joyful, peaceful, grateful, etc. So that you’re building a way of life that begins to automatically lift you into the vibrational field where your dreams already are playing, that beat of abundance is broadcasting.

This is how you manifest more, more money, or more of anything. You understand the true nature of manifestation. It’s not making something happen that isn’t already there. It’s making that which is always happening tangible, visible, audible, manifest. You’re letting go of magical thinking, and you’re stepping into conscious action. You’re planning your life as if you’re doing all the work, then living in the context as if God is. You’re creating the 25 ways to manifest more. If 25 is hard, you do 30. If 25 is easy, you do 50. Then you’re developing the LIFT practice, so that on a daily basis through visualization, vibration, radiation, prayer, affirmation, and the design of your way of life, you’re creating an activation of the qualities of being that you’d be feeling if you were already living in the manifestation. So that you’re already there before it manifests, and then you begin to discover the true nature of freedom.

This is how you manifest more. Remember, that feeling tone, that sense of connection to the peace, the love, the joy, the gratitude, the inner sense of abundance, that is ultimately the real goal here. In all of your getting, get understanding. In all of your seeking, seek first the Kingdom of Heaven within, this Nirvana state, this state of peace, so that as you have this outer goal of manifesting more, which is fine, you have your real soul goal, your real evolutionary goal of in this moment being in peace, in joy, in gratitude, and for the next 30 minutes. Every 30 minutes or so you just check in again. Where am I? What’s my big success goal? How would I feel if I was living that? My goal now is just to be in that feeling tone, to be a state of peace.

As you do that, you build a subjective vibration. You attain the real goal of your soul, which is always a greater flowering of its own quality, its own nature. It doesn’t really care whether you have more money or more whatever. It only cares is more of it blossoming, and as that happens, that quality of consciousness clothes itself in form, as the more that you are now manifesting.

(Bonus Episode) Quantum Healing: Getting Unstuck No Matter What

Nowhere in the Universe is anything stuck. Energy is always moving – always flowing. Even when it’s stuck, it’s moving; it’s just moving in a very constricted spot.

No matter what situation you’re in, the reason why you think you’re stuck – the reason you feel stuck is that you have (A) an expectation of what the outcome should look like, (B) an expectation of what you should be like, of what you should be able to do, be, have, or create in that moment or under those circumstances.

Because of your expectations or perception that something or someone outside of you has to change in order for things to happen in the way that you want, you feel stuck.  We hear things like, “I don’t have the money right now so I’m stuck”, “I can’t feel happy and joyful and grateful when I’m at a job that I dislike, so I’m stuck”, etc…

On it goes, where you’re putting the locus of power outside of you – in people, places, things, and conditions, even putting it in your current mental-emotional patterns – as if the current energy level, emotional pattern, or mental pattern is power over you: “I can’t write today because I’m uninspired”, “I don’t have the energy to exercise, so I’m stuck”.

At whatever point you feel stuck, there’s always something you can do to get the energy flowing in the direction that you want to be going. Whether it’s taking some action, having a conversation, acting regardless of how you feel, or doing some prayer or meditation around it, you can always do something.

Begin to activate the qualities of what it is you want to do or who you want to be.  You are a Divine power plant – and a power plant doesn’t receive energy, it generates it. So, you don’t wait for inspiration, you generate it. How? By acting like a person who is inspired. You want to act from the point of knowing that you are the source of it, and then it generates.

Feeling stuck is an opportunity to discover just how powerful you are, how resourceful you are, and to develop your own wings so that you can fly into a much larger reality.

How to Get Unstuck No Matter What Welcome to Emergence, a revolutionary path for radical life change. This is Derek Rydall, the founder of the Law of Emergence, author of the best-selling book, Emergence, and your guide on the side for this powerful journey of awakening into our full potential through this model of Emergence, which is in many cases the complete reversal of so many of the ways weve learned that life operates. Its not something I made up. This is the perennial truth teaching. This is what all the great masters taught, even though its been often misunderstood and misinterpreted, that is the fundamental premise that everything you could ever want, hope or desire, or need is within you. Therefore, the world has nothing to give you, and the world cant take anything away. The world is a mirror, a canvas, and a feedback system. You are the dispenser of the Divine gifts of the Universe. You have come as a portal, an opening, an instrument of all of infinite good, here to shine it in the unique and unprecedented way. The more and more you realize this, the more you are freed from being a victim, the more you are freed from being at the whim of anything or anyone outside of you. You become a true catalyst for transformation, a powerful leader in whatever area you endeavor.

So, what were talking about in this particular session is how to get unstuck no matter what. This isnt so much about all the different specific things you can do in specific situations, like youre stuck on the side of the road, how do you get out of that? Youre stuck writing your book, how do you get out of that? Its more first and foremost a philosophical shift in understanding that stuckness is a state of mind. Its an illusion. Nowhere in the Universe is anything stuck. Energy is always moving, always flowing. Even when its stuck, its moving. Its just moving in a very constricted spot. The other thing is that no matter what situation youre in, the reason why we think were stuck– and I want you to follow along with the situation that you may be feeling stuck in. The reason we feel stuck is that we have (A) an expectation of what the outcome should look like, (B) an expectation of what we should be like, of what we should be able to do or be, or have, or create in that moment or under those circumstances.

We have some expectation. Because things arent appearing like that, were feeling stuck or afraid, or were not able to take action. Because of that expectation, or because of the false perception that we think that something or someone outside of us has to change in order for us to do, be, have, create or contribute in the way that we want; therefore, were waiting for that thing to change, and so we feel stuck. I dont have the money right now to do whatever, and so Im stuck. Im in a relationship, and this person pays all my bills, so Im stuck in this relationship. Im at a job that I hate, but I need to make a living, so Im stuck. I cant feel happy and joyful and grateful when Im at a job that I hate, so Im stuck. On and on it goes, where were putting the locus of power outside of us in people, places, things, and conditions, even putting it in our current mental emotional patterns. Well, I just feel depressed, so Im stuck. I just dont feel inspired, so Im stuck. I cant write today or do whatever my creative action is. I dont have the energy in my body, so Im stuck. I cant exercise today – as if the current energy level or emotional pattern, or mental pattern is power over us.

When you really step back and realize the thoughts, the feelings, and the sensations – all of that is part of the content of your consciousness. You, the witness, are the only point of power. Your thoughts arent power. Your feelings arent power, not even your body is a power. You, the Divine consciousness, the I am’ that you are, is the only point of power onto your life. As it says in some of the ancient scriptures, Youve been given dominion over everything. The I that you are, the witness, is the point of infinitepower and infinite resource. Theres never a lack of resource, theres only a lack of resourcefulness. If you look at the word resourceful, it means to be full of source again, to be resourced, reconnected to source. It doesnt mean to go out and get more stuff. So, no matter how many resources appear to be lacking outside of you, or even inside of you, because all thats just content, you have the power to be resourceful at any moment you choose.

As it says in the Bible that Gods manna falls fresh from heavy every day, and metaphysically or esoterically speaking, that means that the substance of life falls fresh over and over and over in this moment. It talks about if you try to hold on to it, it will rot in your hands. If you try to save it for tomorrow, it will rot, and you wont be able to eat it. So, always in this moment, there is fresh manna, fresh supply, fresh insight, fresh energy, but you have to reclaim dominion. You have to look at the thoughts and the patterns that you bought into, that this thought or this emotion or this body, or this person, or this condition, or this economy, or this job, or this family has to change before I can be unstuck. That is fundamentally false. In any moment, you can choose again. In any moment, you can start moving your attention, which moves your energy. Energy flows where your attention goes. Remember, from the Emergence model, if youre waiting on anything or anyone, whatever youre waiting for, youre waiting with and youre weighing it down. So, as I say, this is the ultimate wait loss program.

Just look at an area right now where you feel youre stuck. Ill give you some examples. For example, if you feel like you really want to write that book, but youre stuck because you dont know what to write about, then you want to ask the question, What could I do to move towards this vision? If you do the Night Pages where its talking about what I have, what I have accomplished, what I can do, what Im grateful for, and thats to begin to reverse the condition where we tend to look at life and say – Why dont I have? What havent I done? Why cant I do and whats missing for my life and therefore Im ungrateful and unhappy about. That becomes a habit from a place of survival, but you can reverse that. When you find yourself going, Well, I dont have this ability or this resource right now; I dont know what to write about, in the example of the book, you can say, Well, what do I know? What could I do? Sincerely ask that, and you might begin to hear – What I could research? How to come up with good ideas for a book? I could journal about what matters to me most, or I could take something Im interested in and just start free writing about it now. I dont have inspiration. Okay. So, remember you are a Divine power plant. A power plant doesnt receive energy, it generates it. So, you dont wait for inspiration, you generate it. How? By acting like a person whos inspired.

Same with if you dont feel like you have the energy to go exercise. You dont wait for energy. You go exercise, and you activate the energy, because its infinite, but it must be activated obviously, because if all of infinite energy was just to manifest within you it would completely annihilate you. It would annihilate all sense of your personality structures, right? It will annihilate the entire universe around you, too, right? It will just destroy everything. The energy has to unfold. It has to emerge. The governor on that, or the mechanism for that, is your activation of it based on your attention. So, youre never waiting for energy or inspiration. You are acting from the point of knowing you are the source of it, and then it generates.

So, maybe youre feeling like, Well, I cant even come up with an idea for the book, so just keep stepping it back. I cant write because Im just not inspired. I dont have any ideas. Okay. So, you ask, What do I have or what could I do? Youre like, Well, I cant even come up with an idea for the book. Im still stuck. Im even more stuck now. Then, I could say, Well, just start writing. You go, Oh, myhand is paralyzed. Im just giving you the worst case scenario. I cant even write. I cant even move and lift my hand. Im stuck. Okay, What can I do? What can I do? What can I do? You keep asking. You start to go, well, I could visualize the life of my dreams as a published writer, writing, publish, impacting people. I could spend the next 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes really getting into that vision and really feeling it, really seeing myself writing in the books, piling up impact in the world and the financial remuneration and whatever. Now, you notice whats happening? Youre not feeling stuck. Youre starting to feel inspired. Youre starting to feel juices flowing, and maybe you even get inspired with an idea of what to write. You could be in that visualization, take it to the end, and then look down and see, What are the kinds of books Ive written? You might notice a title or an idea popped in, and suddenly youre off to the races.

The point is at whatever point you feel stuck, theres always something you can do to get the energy flowing in the direction that you want to be going, whether its taking some action, whether its having a conversation, whether its acting regardless of how you feel, which is very, very critical, whether its imagining it, whether its doing some prayer or meditation around it. You can always do something. Youre in a relationship, and you feel like my story where I felt completely stuck at my waiters job. I needed the money. I thought I needed the job. I thought there was no other better job that I could have found at that time. The place was making me miserable and all. I thought it was making me miserable. On and on and on, I just felt so stuck, but as I begin to ask, what can I do, I begin to realize, well, I can begin to cultivate the feelings and the sense of if I was living my ideal life and my ideal dream job. I can start to activate those feelings in me through the various tools that we teach.

As I begin to do that, I begin to feel a little better, and I thought what else can I do? I can begin to show up and be more like the person I really want to be regardless of the situation. I can be more loving, more kind, more generous, more of service, more excellent. I begin to do that, and I was like, Wow! Look at that. I can do that. I began to feel even better, and I thought, I can begin to really look at myself and take responsibility for all the places Im blaming or projecting.I begin to do that and I begin to feel more empowered, and then I got fired, and I came back, and I did it again, and I got fired. I came back, and I did it again. What it was is every time I felt like I was up against the wall, I felt like I was stuck, I went back to: What can I do so that I can show up more fully for my life, and I begin to activate the feelings, the being, take a more productive action, be more the person I really wanted to be, do the inner healing work and step by step, I grew so big that that place could no longer hold me. So, I came from a place where I felt completely stuck to outgrowing it into a whole new world of possibilities.

Its like the example of the chicken and the egg. The chicken eventually grows to a point where its completely run out of room. It’s cramped and stuck in a small egg shell, nowhere to go, no way out, or so it seems. It runs out of food, so now it’s hungry, and theres nowhere to get more resources, or so it seems, and then it’s surrounded by its own waste matter. So, it smells, it stinks, it’s hungry and it’s cramped. It’s completely stuck. Now, to that self-consciousness like some of us, you might have started to complain, Oh, God, why have you forsaken me? Why did my parents abandon me? Why did they put me to such terrible situation? Whats my karma, my past life, my astrology, my numerology, picture-ology? It would have spun around and around, exhausted itself, eventually given out and maybe even died, but instead, what did that chicken do, that little baby chick? It starts to focus on where might there be some nourishment? It goes on a journey of searching for whatever little bit of nourishment there is. It doesnt focus on whats missing. It focuses on what is. It begins to find a little nourishment there, a little nourishment there, enough to get it by.

As its doing that, its also pecking, because thats how it looks for nourishment. As its pecking, its strengthening its neck muscles and its lung muscles. Its cracking the shell until eventually it sets free into a much larger life, and its no longer stuck. Because sometimes when were stuck, we just wish and pray that somebody would come and save us – God or a family member or a partner or whoever. If that chicken was just saved, somebody just cracked it open and let it free, Oh, you poor thing, youre so stuck,it would have died, because it wouldnt have gone through the transformational trial to build the strength and the muscles and its lungs and wings to survive in a larger world. The same is true for you. Where youre feeling stuck, not only that youre now stuck, but its an opportunity to discover just how powerful you are, how resourceful you and to develop your own wings so that you can fly into a much larger reality.

So, this is your invitation, this is your challenge to look at that area where youre feeling stuck and go to this process and discover how you can begin to get yourself unstuck. Start to make a game of it, start to look for other places where you feel stuck, and do this process and get unstuck. (Bonus Episode) The Solution State of Mind

(Bonus Episode) The Solution State of Mind

As you begin to grow in this awareness of the Emergence principles and how life really operates, you start to discover that what you do in and of itself is not going to determine the outcomes you get.

Ultimately, as the old metaphysical axiom says, to he or she who is right in mind they can do all the wrong things, and it will often still turn out right, but to he or she who is wrong in mind they can do all the right things, and it will still turn out wrong. We see that even as Einstein said, “You cannot solve a problem at the level of thinking that created it.”

We understand in metaphysics and quantum physics, that the frequency or the vibration that you’re at is what actually determines the outcome. The good that you want, the answer, the solution, the opportunity, the abundance, etc. it’s already here. Much like you are inundated with radio broadcasts right now, and in the midst of those broadcast somewhere your favorite music is playing, but it’s not yet a manifest part of your experience. When you tune the dial of your frequency so that that receiver or frequency matches the frequency where that music is playing, that station becomes manifest. You have what I like to say a manifest-station. The music was already happening, but you had to make it welcome. You had to dial into that same frequency. The distance between you and your music is a distance in frequency.

The same is true for your solutions. For whatever challenge you face, the solution is a reality that already exists, but it exists at a higher or different frequency than the frequency of the problem.

Problem, when you understand it means emblem – it’s a symbol. A problem or challenge is a symbol of a state of consciousness, a particular frequency, and you can never solve a problem, any more than you can solve a frequency.

If you’re turned into station K-LACK, and it’s playing the blues all day, or it’s gossiping and complaining and talking about all this negative stuff in the world, making you feel horrible, that’s a problem. You can’t solve that problem at that frequency. You can’t solve that frequency. That’s what’s playing on that station. So, how do you solve it? You have to tune up the dial to station K-RICH, to a higher frequency.

When you tune out of K-LACK into K-RICH, the problems you are experiencing on K-LACK they’re no longer there! That particular music becomes unmanifest. It goes back into the invisible, inaudible state that it was to begin with, and the music that you really want to hear, that beat of abundance, that symphony of success, now becomes manifest. It becomes a part of your experience.

So a problem cannot be solved. It exists. It’s a frequency. Just like ice cannot be solved at the level of temperature where ice exists; 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below, you have ice. No matter what you do to get rid of that problem, you’ll still have the problem if you’re still living at 32 degrees. You can pour hot water on it, but what’s going to happen? It’s going to become more ice. You can chip it away. What’s going to happen? Condensation will produce more ice.

That’s why so many of our attempts to solve problems individually, or in a community, in the government, a corporation or a culture, etc., don’t often work, because we are still at the same frequency, and just moving things around at that level.

We’re reorganizing the people, places, and conditions, but it’s still coming from that level of thinking, from that perception of lack, limitation, fear, or separation. We may try to cover over all of that by controlling or manipulating more, by adding more on top of it, or by having stricter rules… All of that is this substructure of coping, survival, and defense mechanisms we put on top off this vibration or frequency that’s creating the problem. What we find is that the same problem breaks out in new ways.

So how do you deal with it then? You must rise above that temperature. When you rise above 32 degrees, what happens to the ice? You don’t solve the ice – the ice dissolves.

When you tune to a higher frequency on the station you don’t solve the problem or change the station of K-LACK. That’s still broadcasting, but it dissolves out of your experience, and what manifests is that higher frequency you’re now tuned into. That’s also why Einstein said, “Arrows of hate have been shot in my direction many times, but they no longer can touch me or hurt me, because they come from a world I no longer inhabit.”

[bctt tweet=”Problems aren’t solved; they dissolve as you evolve.” username=”derekrydall”]

At the vibration of love, hatred doesn’t exist. It’s not that love solves hatred. It’s that hatred is an expression. You can’t solve hatred at the level of hatred, which is why two wrongs don’t make a right. It’s also why you can’t fight fire with fire (except in the forest, which actually in that case fire works.) The key is that that’s why so many of our attempts to go to war and try to crush terrorism doesn’t work, because we’re still operating, in many cases, at the same level of the problem. What you resist persists, what you fight you fuel.

So, to move into the solution state of mind, you must understand that all solutions exist outside of the frequency or circle of the problem, and you want to, as quickly and easily as possible, move yourself into the frequency of the solution. You want to bring yourself back into a congruent, receptive solution state of mind. That’s where the answers are, where evolution, real healing and growth happens.

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Welcome to Emergence, this is Derek Rydall, your guide on the side instead of the sage on the stage, author of the bestselling book Emergence, and founder of the process the Law of Emergence. It’s just so great to have you here, as we take another deep dive on this journey of engineering the full emergence of our life, our potential, and our deeper purpose. Today we’re talking about the solution state of mind, and this is really a powerful thing to understand, because, as you begin to grow in this awareness of these principles and how life really operates, we start to discover that what we do, although it’s very important to take action, it’s an extension of consciousness, it’s a dimension of consciousness, that was we do in and of itself is not going to determine the outcomes we get. Ultimately, as the old metaphysical axiom says, to he or she who is right in mind they can do all the wrong things, and it will often still turn out right, but to he or she who is wrong in mind they can do all the right things, and it will still turn out wrong. We see that even as Einstein said, You cannot solve a problem at the level of thinking that created it.

We understand in metaphysics, quantum physics, that the frequency or the vibration that you’re at, that’s actually what’s determining the outcome. I’ve used the analogy often that it’s already happening. You have what I like to say a manifest station. Now, where was the music before you tuned into it? It wasn’t in the distance. You didn’t have to take your radio and run down the street and catch it. It wasn’t in the future. You didn’t have to sit there and wait for it to show up, and when you tuned into that station you didn’t have to make the music happen. The music was already happening, but you had to make it welcome. You had to dial into that same frequency. The distance between you and your music is a distance in frequency.

The same is true for your solutions. For whatever challenge you face, the solution is a reality that already exists, but it exists, hear this, at a higher or different frequency than the frequency of the problem. Problem, when you understand it means emblem, it’s a symbol. A problem, a challenge, is a symbol of a state of consciousness, a particular frequency, and you can never solve a problem, any more than you can solve a frequency. Right? I mean, that’s just a frequency. If you’re turned into station K-LACK, and it’s playing the blues all day, and it’s gossiping and complaining and talking about all this negative stuff in the world, and it’s making you feel horrible, that’s a problem. You can’t solve that problem at that frequency. You can’t solve that frequency. That’s what’s playing on that station. So how do you solve it? You have to tune up the dial to station K-RICH, to a higher frequency. When you tune out of K-LACK into K-RICH the problems you are experiencing on K-LACK they’re no longer there, right? That particular music becomes unmanifest. It goes back into the invisible, inaudible state that it was to begin with, and the music that you really want to hear, that beat of abundance, that symphony of success, now that you’re tuned into that, it becomes manifest. It becomes a part of your experience.

So a problem cannot be solved. It exists. It’s a frequency. Just like ice cannot be solved at the level of temperature where ice exists. 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below, you have ice. No matter what you do to get rid of that problem, you’ll still have the problem if you’re still living at 32 degrees. You can pour hotwater on it. What’s going to happen? It’s going to become more ice. You can chip it away. What’s going to happen? Condensation will produce more ice. So no matter what you do you’ve always got the problem, the proclivity of the problem, the propensity of the problem, the worry, doubt, and fear of the problem, because you’re living at the level of the problem, at the frequency. As Einstein said, at the level of thinking that created it.That’s why so many of our attempts to solve problems individually, in a community, and in the world, in the government, etc., in a corporation or a culture, the reason why they don’t work often is we are still at the same frequency, at the same level, but we’re just moving things around. We’re reorganizing the people, places, and conditions, but it’s still coming from that level of thinking, from that perception of lack, limitation, fear, separation, whatever, and now we’re going to try to cover over all of that by controlling more, by manipulating more, by adding more on top of it, by having stricter rules. All of that is this substructure of coping, survival, and defense mechanisms we put on top off this vibration or frequency that’s creating the problem. What we find is that the same problem breaks out in new ways. It’s another reason why for the common prisoner the recidivism rate is so high. The problem itself hasn’t been solved, because it  never can be.

So how do you deal with it then? You must rise above that temperature. When you rise above 32 degrees, what happens to the ice? You don’t solve the ice. The ice dissolves. When you tune to a higher frequency on the station you don’t solve the problem and actually change the station of K-LACK. That’s still broadcasting, but it dissolves out of your experience, and what manifests is that higher frequency you’re now tuned into. That’s also why Einstein said, Arrows of hate have been shot in my direction many times, but they no longer can touch me or hurt me, because they come from a world I no longer inhabit. At a frequency there are manifestations, condensations, coagulations, formations, and they exit at that frequency. At 32 degrees and below you have ice. At other degrees you have steam. You have gases. You have solids. You have different expressions at different levels. Right? That’s just the way it is. So you cannot solve it. The problems don’t get solved, they dissolve as you evolve. So the only way to solveour problems is to actually take our attention off the problem long enough to rise in conscious, vibration, or frequency to rise outside of the circumstance or the circle of the problem, and as we evolve the problems dissolve. They literally cannot exist at that new higher or different frequency. They cannot exist there. That’s not where they live. Ice doesn’t live at 50 degrees. It lives at 32 degrees and below. So if you start living at 50 degrees, you’re not going to have ice. You’re not going to have the problem of ice.

At the vibration of love, hatred doesn’t exist there. It’s not that love solves hatred. It’s that hatred is an expression. Now, I could go down the rabbit hole and explain to you that really hatred is actually on the spectrum of love, but let’s not go there right now. Rather to understand that hatred is an expression or manifestation or formation of a certain vibration or frequency. You can’t solve hatred at the level of hatred, which is why two wrongs don’t make a right. Which is why you can’t fight fire with fire, except in the forest, which actually in that case fire works, but, again, that’s a different physics issue. The key is that that’s why so many of our attempts to go to war and try to crush terrorism doesn’t work, because the actual problem, we’re still operating in many cases at that same level. We’re still killing and fighting and hating and having a justified reason for killing, fighting, and hating. There is no justification. Justifying it doesn’t change the frequency. In many cases it keeps you stuck at the lower frequency.

It’s also why when we’re trying to solve our own problems, our own challenges, but we’re stuck at the level of the problem, we are struggling to figure it out, to make it better, to improve it, to fix it, and we find that either it gets worse, which is often the case, or we solve what appears to be this problem of lack in one area, and it breaks out in another area. We finally solve our problem of lack, and we get a job, and then our plumbing goes wrong, and we have to use all that money we just made to pay for the plumbing. We finally solve our problem of not having enough and get a check for $500, and then our car breaks down, and it costs us $500. How many of you have experienced that? It’s because you’re just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. You’ve manipulated conditions. You’ve manipulated mentally, emotionally, and physically, but fundamentally you’re still living at the same level of consciousness, the same core pattern of your heart or mindset, which is then producing another version of that same frequency. Now it’s just showing up in your bank account, and then next month it shows up in your body, and next month is shows up at your business, and the next month it shows up in your relationship. You’re just rearranging, moving it from one place to the next, but the problem persists. Ultimately it tends to magnify and get worse. So how do you solve a problem? You have to rise above it. you have to get outside of it. I often use the analogy of a racecar driver. A racecar driver, they learn that when you’re spinning out of control towards a wall, which is the problem, if you focus on the problem, aka the wall, you’re going to hit it. It seems very counterintuitive. You feel like, I’ve got to look at that wall to make sure I don’t hit it, but if you do, you will, because the hands follow the eyes, and you turn right into it. So instead you’re trained to look away from the wall and to look towards the road, look towards the finish line, look towards the next turn. Look to where you want to go, not what you are spiraling out of control towards. Look to the solution, the opportunity, the vision, not towards the problem. Sometimes when you’re learning this the trainer that’s training you how to drive has to literally grab your head and force you to look, because everything in your instincts has been conditioned to focus on the problem, to focus on the wall. It feels utterly unnatural to not look at that wall, because otherwise you’re going to crash. Of course, again, the irony is if you do, you are going to crash.

So you look away, and as you look away your hands follow your eyes, and you start to turn out of the spin and pull out of the spin. Interestingly, even when you do that, depending on the momentum you’ve got in that spin, you’re still sliding towards the wall. You have to be aware of that, because you’re turning, you’re focusing on the solution, on the road, but you’re still sliding towards the problem, and there’s a great temptation. It’s a very precarious moment where you might go, it’s not working, it’s not working, and then you look back to the wall, and you get to observe as you crash into it. It takes a degree of courage, degree of trust, and ultimately discipline to become solution focused, not problemfocused, to be a vision holder, not a problem solver.

That doesn’t mean you aren’t aware of the challenge and the problem. It doesn’t mean you’re not aware that there’s a wall there. You are aware of it, but your focus, your attention is on the road, on the solution. So this moves us into a solution state of mind is where the solutions exist. I know that sounds obvious, but it’s not obviously seen or understood when we’re in the moment. Again, it seems counterintuitive to not focus on the problem. It seems from our defensive nature that if we take our eye off the problem it’s going to get us. It’s going to sneak attack us. It’s going to take advantage of us. That’s an old artifact of our evolution where we were trained to see the problems very quickly in any new environment. The rustling of the branches means there could be a sabretooth cat there, or particular elements left behind could show that there was an enemy encampment before, etc. So we’ve been trained and conditioned as a matter of survival, but what helped us survive as a human experiment is now the very mechanism that puts us on the brink of extinction. If not total human extinction, it stagnates us and keeps us stuck at the level we are in our own individual lives, our own individual businesses. So to move into the solution state of mind we have to understand that all solutions exist outside of the frequency or energy or circle of the problem, and that we want to as quickly and easily as possible move ourselves into the frequency of the solution. Again, I’m going to say that. What we want to do when we encounter a problem is instead of reacting to it and resisting it, what you resist persists, what you fight you fuel. If you fall into quicksand and you fight it, it pulls you down, and you die. If you are in a problem, and you wrestle it, fight it, resist it, it pulls you down. It anchors you to that energy of the problem and makes it more easy to get stuck there, and then most, if not all, of the things you try to do to solve it, first off all, we’ll most likely not solve it, but if it seems to temporarily create a solution it’s almost always a stopgap solution. The problem almost always returns, and in many cases it returns with even more velocity and more ferocity, because all of that resistance. Think of it like holding a beach ball underwater. You’re using all this energy now to hold the problem down and create this solution on top of it, and the minute you relax, that ball flies up and hits you in the face. You’ve all had that experience.

This is not a game of Whack-a-Mole. You just keep hitting the mole, and another one pops up, another one pops up. That’s not how to really solve problems. As Gandhi said, We must be or become the change we want to see in the world, and that includes our own individual world. So when you’re in a problem, you want to as soon as possible shift your awareness and attention to asking the question, not how do I solve the problem, but what is the change I want to see in the world? What’s the change I want to see in my world? Let’s say suddenly you get a bill, and it’s this huge bill, and you can’t afford it, or something like that. You get worried, or you get frustrated. You get angry. Then you try to make calls and complain. This isn’t right. There’s a mistake, or frantically try to scrounge up new opportunities or clients or whatever the case may be. You’re operating at the level of the problem, and energetically and vibrationally you’re tuning and staying tuned in, and even creating a preset on the dial of station K-LACK. Instead you want to go take a breath, and ask, what is the change I want to see in my life? You might immediately go, I want to see this bill paid, and that’s okay. That’s a start. Then go another step further. What is the change I would want to see and need to see in my life in order to pay the bill? Then you sense into that. What you hear is, I have more money. You keep asking, how much more money? If somebody gave you a dollar, that would be more money. How much more? Let’s say the bill is $500. I have at least an extra $1,000. You just sit with that, and you go, is that all the change I really want? What other real change is this challenge inviting me to open up to? As you breathe and sink into it, you kind of hear or feel, I really want to have a level of financial freedom. I don’t want to have to worry about money anymore. Notice that little subtle shift. I don’t want to have to worry about money. You’ve just turned your head back towards the wall again about what you don’t want. That’s the problem. So you go, but what do I want? I want to have enough that I can joyfully express my life, I can have more time with my family, or I can have more time to do creative stuff. Now you’re getting back to the solution. You’re turning back towards the road, towards the finish line.

I want to have enough money that I can spend time doing the things I really want, being with the people I really want, being the person I want to be. As you keep unpacking that, you ask specifying questions. If I got to be the person I wanted to be, who would that person be? As you sense into that, you hear, I’d want to be a person of peace. I’d want to have more joy. I want to be more playful, creative, spontaneous. Brilliant. Write that down. You go, who are the people you’d want to spend more time with? I want to spend more time with my kids, with my husband, with my friends. What would that look like? I would go on that vacation, or we would have a date night. You start to describe and articulate that. What else? I’d want to be doing more of the things that I really want to do with my heart and my art. What specifically? I really want to write that book, or paint that painting, or put on that art show, or start that business. Great. Write it all down.

Now stop for a minute and notice, what have you just discovered? This problem called this unexpected bill was really carrying a message. Your problems are your prophets. They’re bringing you a prophecy, a message of the vision that’s trying to unfold. So this problem is really trying to open you up to discover there’s a larger life that you’re being called to live, that you’re aching to live, that’s seeking to emerge, but all your coping mechanisms have kept you playing small. So now this problem shows up to crack you back open and say, there’s a bigger vision here. There’s a bigger possibility. Your heart has a deeper desire. You’re meant for more. You’re capable of more.

Now you articulate that vision, and even notice as you start to move your energy and think about the bigger vision and dwell on it and imagine it, how do you feel? When the bill came in you constricted. Your heart closed. Your mind clamped down. Your body felt constricted. As you start to move and ask these emergence questions, these solution focused questions, these vision based questions, you feel your heart start to open again, your mind start to expand, your body relax. Energetically, vibrationally, you’ve just moved up a few degrees. You’re maybe not at 32 anymore. Maybe you were at 10, and now you’re at 20. You might still be in the realm of ice, but you’re moving up the scale. You might not be on K-LACK anymore, but you might be still in static, but at least you’re not hearing the blues and all the gossip. It’s just static. It’s not entirely tuned into K-RICH yet, but it’s still an improvement. You follow? Now we take it the next step. Now you really feel into that vision. You give yourself the time to really visualize it, to really feel what it feels like to live that vision, to be that person, and then you do the visualization-vibration process, where you breathe into that energy, and as you exhale you let it expand to fill your body, and then breathe and exhale again and radiate it into your life, radiate it to this seemingly challenge, and just feel yourself as a radiant being of this energy. Now we move. We are now in what’s called a more receptive, available, congruent state of mind, and we can now ask the question, from this place, what am I called to do, to do more of, to do less of, or to do differently, to bring about a solution with ease and grace and dignity? From that place it’s like you’ve now tuned into a higher quality station, and there are higher quality answers. First of all, you don’t just merely receive the answer, but vibrationally you are now becoming the answer. From that place you might be inspired with an idea, a bit of guidance, direction. So that’s the next stage.

The first stage is you’ve hit the problem, breathe, turn your attention toward asking those solution based, vision based questions. Then as you do that you continue to ask specifying questions until you’ve unpacked a vision for your life, the change you want to see in the world, in your world, or beyond. Now you start to have a sense of a vision. You write it down, and then Step 3, you visualize. You use the angel of your imagination to activate the visionary vibration, to feel what it feels like to already be the answer, to be living the solution, and even beyond a mere solution. Notice, it’s no longer just pay the bill. It’s a vision of a life of so much more joy and abundance and possibility. That expands your energy, and then the fourth step you radiate it, really that’s still part of the third step. You radiate it. You fill yourself with it. The fourth step is you now ask from that new state of mind, that solution state, what activity, what am I called to do or not do, to do more of or less of or different, in order to bring about a solution to this with ease and with grace, even with peace and joy? Then you sit with that, and you allow it to bubble up.

At any point in this you might get snagged and pulled back, because you’re still sliding towards that wall to some extent, because the problem has not yet been solved. The temptation will be to get frustrated and go, I just got to solve this problem now, and you just turn back to the wall. When that happens, you breathe again. You come back. You breathe again. You turn your attention back to the road. You keep doing that and asking that question, and then journaling what comes up. Okay?

The fifth stage is you want to ultimately and eventually design a way of life so that this is where you live from on a regular basis. So you’re not just waiting for problems to activate this process, but you take the great vision of your life, and you start to design a way of life around that visionary vibration, around the qualities of feeling and being, and the proactive actions of doing. So that you are now thinking and feeling, walking and talking, in a way that is integrity with this larger vision. In other words, most of your attention is focused on the finish line and racing around that track, versus more and more of your attention focused on the wall that is always just out of your periphery that you could crash into any moment. Most of your attention is focused on the road, on the way, on the finish line, on the vision. That becomes the way of life, and you’re just going around and around and growing and winning the race of your life on a regular daily basis. That becomes a way of life, and if you want to have more in depth understanding of how to do that, I highly encourage you to check out the podcast in here that talks about the LIFT practice, which stands for Living In the Feeling Tone of your vision. That allows you to really take this to the next level.

There’s another level to which this is very valuable. If you’re a coach, a healer, a teacher, or a parent, even a friend of someone, when a friend or a child or a client comes to you, and they’re stuck in the problem, or a spouse, one of the worst things to do is immediately try to solve it and give them answers and solutions at that level. They’re not yet receptive or available or congruent. So instead what you want to begin to tease out of them in a subtle way is to move their attention toward a higher, more congruent, more quality state of being. So they might come to you, a child, like, That jerk Steve at school; he’s such a jerk. Maybe the child comes to you who’s had a fight with a sibling, Bobby is such a mean brother. I hate him. It’s like, What did Bobby do? Tell me what Bobby did, or What did that jerk at school do?You can’t judge people. Don’t talk about those people like that. All of those are adding fuel to the fire. It’s resistance, and they won’t be able to hear it, or they’ll just feel unseen, unheard, unloved, and they’ll rebel. Instead, you move them slowly, and sometimes creatively and dramatically, into being solution oriented or being receptive. You start with, Wow. You’re really upset, aren’t you? So now they feel seen or acknowledged. That’s a step towards them feeling a more positive feeling tone. Do you see that? Then you might say, Tell me what happened. That does bring them back into the problem, but it’s part of them feeling heard, which is like oxygen to a person who’s struggling. So you really listen. That must have been really hard or really scary, or that must really hurt you when they did that.Yeah. It really did. They kind of take a breath, and you’re like, Honey, I’m so sorry you experienced that. I’m so sorry you’re feeling that. You embrace them, or whatever seems appropriate that they’re available for, and now that’s the next level. Now they feel seen, they feel validated, they feel understood, heard, maybe even loved, and you’ll notice they start to calm down a little bit. They might even say, What do you think we should do about it?

Now, it depends on the situation, but let’s say they’re complaining. Let’s say your child comes to you, or a client, and they’re struggling with some issue, like Look at my report card. Look at, I got a C on there or a D, or I lost a client. I lost one of these people in my business, or I didn’t make enough money this month, or whatever the problem is. You might go, That’s really rough. That’s really hard. I really understand that. Then you might say, Tell me more about your business. You’re just expanding the conversation. They might be like, It’s this kind of a business. We do these kind of things. That’s really interesting. Remind me again, why are you doing this business? What is it about it you love?I mean, it’s my mission, my purpose, to help people or create this kind of product, or make this kind of difference. That’s beautiful. What really inspires you about that? Where did that come from? When I was a kid,or I see people suffering, and I just feel like I can make a difference.Have you made a difference sometimes? Tell me about some of the moments you have.Of course, I’ve got a lot of people that are happy clients.Tell me about it. When’s the last time you really felt like you made a positive difference? You just keep teasing it out. Tell me about what’s working in your business. Whatever. You begin to get their attention focused on, I mean, this is great, and I love this, and I’m passionate about this. You notice them start to breathe, start to relax, start to expand. You feel the energy. You’ve now put them in a more receptive solution state of mind. They are more congruent now energetically, emotionally, mentally, with the place they want to live in, with the place they want their life to go. Do you see? Then you can even go a little further and say, What would be your ultimate vision of this business or of your clientele? Now you extend them to even a grander vision and really get them pumped up and on fire with it. Now from that place you go, So from this place, notice how you’re feeling right now. What’s one thing you could do to grow your revenue this month, or to get a new client? Now from that more receptive place they’re actually more available to their innate wisdom, to their innate genius, to that perfect plan within them. You see that?

Same thing with a child. They’re focusing on that C or that D on their report card, and they’re beating themselves up, or they’re scared of what dad’s going to think, and you’re like, Tell me. Do you like that math class? No. I hate it. It sucks. What about these other classes? Do you like any of your classes?I really like art, or I really like English. I love reading.Tell me more about that. What do you love about that? I’d love to hear. They might resist. They might go, I don’t care about that. What am I going to do about this C?I totally agree. We’re going to figure that out, but I’m just really curious, because I’m trying to help see what else is going on in your school, because there might be a clue there for us to help you discover why that C happened. So I’d just love to know what class you love.I really love English. What do you love about it?I love reading.Tell me about something you’ve read lately that you really love.We just read Tom Sawyer, and Tom Sawyer is so cool. I wish I could be like Tom.Wouldn’t that be fun? How would you be in your life now if you could be more like Tom?I certainly wouldn’t let people tell me what to do, and I would really honor my vision, or I would create something or go on a great adventure. What kind of adventure would you like to go on?It’d be kind of cool if we could go on river trip or something. That would be really fun, wouldn’t it?

You start to get them excited, and then you can expand it. If you could bring this kind of adventurous spirit to your school, to your classes, what would you want to do?I don’t know. I’ve been thinking I’d like to do this or do that. You are growing their awareness of what’s possible. You’re making them connected, more congruent, and now you say, What do you think you could bring that we’ve been talking about, like this Tom Sawyer adventurous? How would Tom Sawyer think about this C on his report card? Tom Sawyer wouldn’t care. He wouldn’t let that C get him down.Tom does sound pretty cool. He’s really cool.So maybe that’s great place you could play and act like you’re Tom Sawyer, and not let it get you down. What else would Tom Sawyer do if he knew that he wanted to bring that grade up? It’s not that big of a deal, but what else might he do?Tom Sawyer would find some creative or adventurous way to deal with it, and on and on and on, until you help the child discover their more receptive congruent place, or the client, or the friend, etc.

Now, if it’s a spouse, a person that is truly your equal, or a friend, and you’re not their parent or authority, and their not your client, it’s a little different in the sense that you’re not teaching them. You’re not there to be their coach or their teacher. You’re there to be their friend or their lover. So you just want to be mindful of that. You can still ask questions that open up and really listen and let them express themselves and feel heard and seen and valued and loved, and sometimes that is enough. If you’re a man, and you’re talking to a woman, most of the time the woman doesn’t even want you to solve the problem. The woman just wants to feel heard and seen and held and loved. Then she’s fine, and she’ll go solve it. There might come a moment where she’s feeling better, she’s feeling loved, and you say, Is there anything else I can do to support you? Anything else you want to talk about to try to solve this? If not, that’s fine, but just want you to know I’m here. She might say, Thanks, I’m really good now. It’s not that big of a deal after all, or I don’t know. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. Whereas if you start right out of the gate with that she’s not going to be able to hear it, because she’s gasping for air, and she needs oxygen. With a man, even though men like to solve things, and I know I’m being somewhat stereotypical, the masculine likes to, the man still wants to feel seen and valued, appreciated and respected. So you really listening to him and validating him and understanding him, and then noticing within the story the things he’s doing good and right and absolutely validating those. That’s going to make him feel back in his power again. That’s going to make him feel good about himself again. It’s going to make him feel good about his relationship, and then there might be an opening. You want to wait for the opening. You might say, Is there anything else I can do to help you? I’m here. I just want you to know that. You might get, Thanks, but I’m good. I got it. He might say, I don’t know. If you have any ideas, sure. Then you can share. Unless that opening comes, you don’t want to be advice giving and counseling and coaching your spouse. A word to the wise. I learned the hard way, because I did so much coaching it was just natural, and also being a man it’s natural for my masculinity to want to solve problems.

You can see how this same idea of bringing yourself or bringing a loved one or a client into a solution state of mind. If you’re a minister or whatever, a manager of a team, the same thing applies. You want to bring people back into a congruent receptive solution state of mind. That’s where the answers are. that’s where evolution happens. That’s where real healing and growth happens. That’s where we have the greatest most resourceful presence of being, and when you bring the attention back there, whatever is truly meant to unfold next now has an opening to do that.

I hope this has served you and supported you, and I hope this has brought you into an even greater solution state of mind.
