(Bonus Episode) Why God Can’t Help You

Most people’s perception of God — and what most religions teach about God — is based on an outdated model created before we had any understanding of the deeper nature of the universe. The true source and activity of the divine — and how we can connect with It — is hidden in the ancient teachings. And in this video, I break it down and show you a path back to your higher power and greatest potential!

To Your Emergence!

(Bonus Episode) Jesus Was Not His Name (And Other Game Changing Truths)

I’m shaking up things a little bit here. Today’s topic may be the most controversial thing I’ve ever talked and taught about: ‘Jesus Was Not His Name’.

The real purpose of this particular talk is to try to clear away a lot of the dogma, doctrine, extremism, and the fundamentalism around the great philosophies and religions. I really want to open you up to become contemplative, a student of truth, who questions, even down to the words we use. Words have power. Stories have power. History has power.

There’s a particular interest I have in the teachings of Jesus and the Christian teachings because of the power in them, but also because of how profoundly misunderstood they are, and how corrupted they have become in terms of the real meaning, intention, purpose, and power.

These cultural iconic elements of our history such as the teachings of Jesus or Buddha, etc. have tremendous power and influence over us. They are exerting influence on us until we become conscious of them.

[bctt tweet=”All true spiritual teachings are different branches of the same Tree ” username=”derekrydall”]

We can integrate them, or if we discover that it’s not true or right for us, we can consciously reject them. But we don’t want to reject them unconsciously without understanding them, and we don’t want to lose the power of them and not integrate them because we don’t understand them.

Listen to this new podcast for the full explanation and learn how you can begin to understand and appreciate the deeper perennial teachings and put them to work in your life TODAY.

And remember, self-help is shelf help – you have everything you need already!

(Bonus Episode) ASK DEREK-How Do I Forgive ‘Bad’ People?

Forgiveness is such a loaded subject, partly because we don’t really understand what forgiveness means, and that there are multiple levels of forgiveness.

The most primary level is a sort of superiority; it’s very much an ego-driven thing.  At this level, you, to some extent, recognize that unforgiveness is unuseful; there’s some level of recognizing that holding a grudge is painful and it’s not helping you.

The second level is when you’re willing to no longer withhold from another individual.   At stage, when you think about forgiving someone, there’s some degree of either neutrality, or maybe even a degree of love, (or at least wanting the best for them) even though there may still be a little bit of a sting, because you’re still seeing them as having done you wrong.

That’s a very powerful step, but it’s still not the truest meaning of forgiveness, however, it’s very advantageous and preferable to the alternative.

Here’s something to understand: Forgiveness is primarily for you.  If you are withholding love or blessings from somebody else, no matter what, you are actually blocking your own channel of flow.

From the Emergence model we understand that whatever is missing is what I’m not giving. If I’m withholding love, gratitude, and joy from anyone or anything, at any time, that much love, gratitude and joy cannot flow into my life.

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Welcome to another episode of Ask Derek, as I am your guide on the side instead of the sage on the stage, where we’re learning the deep dive principles of Emergence which is by understanding the underlying principles that really govern successful living and really the inside out way of living. Knowing that you’ve already got it all within you, Emergence shows you how to get it out, how to bring out that genius, that abundance, that potential in a way that is organic, that is natural. In this series of podcasts, Ask Derek, what we’re doing is taking some of the most commonly asked questions and challenges, so that we can answer them directly to you. If you have a question you’d like me to answer, just make sure you register for the podcast on iTunes, pop over to our blog at derekrydall.com and register for the blog, and then post your questions, as many as you want. Then, I’ll be picking from these different questions and, over time, beginning to answer as many of them as possible. I look forward to hearing your questions and to answering them.

In this particular episode, we’re answering the question How do I forgive bad people? Forgiveness is such a loaded subject, partly because we don’t really understand what forgiveness means and that there are multiple levels, at least three levels, of forgiveness. The first level is, Well, they’re bad person and I’m better than that, so I’m going to forgive them. Right? That’s the first most primary level. It’s a sort of superiority; it’s very much an ego-driven thing. It, to some extent, recognizes that unforgiveness is unuseful. As the old saying goes, Not forgiving somebody and thinking that’s going to hurt them is like drinking poison and thinking it’s going to kill them. Maybe there’s some level of recognizing that holding a grudge is painful; it’s not helping you. Your way of forgiveness is sort of, Well, they’re bad. They did me wrong, but that’s just them. I’m better than that, so I’m going to forgive them. I’m not going to hold to grudge. That’s one level. Now, it’s certainly preferable than having absolutely no forgiveness – continuing to hold the grudge, continuing to be angry – although that level of forgiveness still harnesses and harbors the level of anger and resentment. It’s just not as active.

The second level is Well, they did me wrong, but I’m going to be spiritual or more conscious, and I’m going to forgive them. I’m going to learn to find some level of release, some level of relief. I am even maybe going to want the best for them, because that is an element of forgiveness. If you look at the word forgive, to be forgiving is the opposite of to not be for giving, in other words, withholding. The word giving is key there. When you’re willing to no longer withhold from another individual, that’s a process of forgiving. You’re literally saying, I’m willing to bless you or I’m willing to want the best for you. I hope you figure your stuff out, and good luck and good riddance. I’m not going to hold the grudge. I’m going to think peaceful, positive thoughts when I think about you. That’s a very, very powerful step. That begins to purify the negative energy that you are holding onto. That begins to release the poison in your system, but it’s still not the truest meaning of forgiveness, again, very, very advantageous, very preferable to the alternative, which is to not forgive or to merely hold the superior stance which still contains anger and lots of ego.

This stage, at least you are, when you think about them, there’s some degree of either neutrality, or maybe even a degree of love, or at least wanting the best for them, even though there may still be, and usually is, a little bit of a sting underneath that, because you’re still seeing them as having done you wrong. You’re still holding that story. You’re still holding that perception, and so even if you put something on top of it, such as I want the best for them, and you make it feel a little bit better, and you’re not proactively or actively engaging in anger and resentment, there’s still a perception that they did you wrong, that you are wronged. That’s still there, okay?

Again, it’s better than the alternative, and it does begin to keep your channels more open, because here’s a thing to understand: Forgiveness is primarily for you, because if you are withholding love or blessing from somebody else, no matter what, no matter what, you are actually blocking the channel of your own flow. You see, wherever you don’t let love flow out of you, in that place, love can’t flow into your life. The life force can’t flow out of you to prosper your own life, and it also can’t flow into you, so you’re literally blocking your own flow, and that results in stagnation. That stagnated energy shows up in your life as forms of death, whether it’s emotional, mental, or often financial. When you begin to open those channels again, and you realize that I want to be in love, I want to be in joy, I want to be in peace, no matter what or who pops in to my mind or my experience, I want to live in an atmosphere of love. I’m going to radiate only love, and only joy, and only peace, and only gratitude in all directions, not at first for anybody else’s good, so that that’s the atmosphere I live in.

Because from the Emergence model now, I’m understanding that whatever is missing is what I’m not giving. If I’m withholding love and gratitude and joy from anyone or anything at any time, that much love and gratitude and joy cannot get into my life. Do you follow? I’m blocking my abundance. I’m going to love. I’m going to shine. I’m going to be an unconditional instrument of love and gratitude, come what may. If you step into my field of love and gratitude, you’ll be blessed, and that’s good for you. First and foremost, I’m doing it for me. Then, you begin to extend it and realize that everybody else is an extension of you, is a dimension of you. The more you love and bless and give to them, the more you are literally circulating the good into other dimensions of yourself. What you give to another is like taking something from your right hand and putting it in your left hand. It’s still yours, and in fact, it multiplies. You start to really realize that it’s the benefit for you and for everybody just to love and to bless and tobe grateful and to multiply the blessings. If they’re not available or receptive to it, they may or may not experience the benefit of it, but it won’t prevent you from experiencing the benefit. That’s a very powerful level of forgiveness. That’s usually as far as anybody ever goes. If that’s as far as you go, you’ve gone a long way, okay? That just means constantly praying and intending to completely forgive everybody and everything on every level, especially and including yourself, to love and bless everybody and to want for everybody the highest good especially and including yourself. That begins to creating an environment and atmosphere of unconditional love and unconditional flow, okay? Very, very important, very, very powerful.

You can begin to practice and pray and intend that, regardless of how you feel, as a mantra, as a forgiveness bath or shower that you take every day at the end of every day. Over time, you will begin to notice that when you think of that person, there’s less and less of a charge, and then eventually, it hits a point of neutrality. You just don’t feel anything, and then it starts to go into the positive territory. You actually think of them and you feel a sense of love, compassion, understanding, patience, etc., the various shades of love. You can also, if you need a little support in this, you can ask questions like praying to God or to your spirit or whatever guidance, give me, show me how to forgive them or forgive them through me; I myself can’t do it. Why should I forgive them? What are five really good reasons why I should completely release this and totally bless them and forgive them? What are five or ten things about them that are really positive and good? What are five or ten things about my relationship with them that are really positive and good? What are five or 10 things about even the experience that are positive or good? What’s the blessing? What are the lessons? What is the value here?

As you begin to actually have moments where you go, Well, they did steal from me, but, wow, they were certainly creative in how they did it. It was absolutely creative of them. It was incredibly clever.Or, They did cheat on me, but at least they were going for what they needed. I know in my own life, I don’t do that. I don’t approve the way they did it. They were dishonest. They were out of integrity, but where in my own life do I want it, want more? Maybe even in that situation, I knew things were not right, but I didn’t address it, so now they’re letting me see that. I had a part in this. As you begin to look to see what was my part in it, how did I not honor my own guidance, what’s the blessing, what’s the lesson, what’s the gift here, then you start to unpack and discover positive things about them, positive things about the experience. You start to requalify and reframe the experience. This is where you move into the third level of forgiveness.

This is where you begin to discover that, spiritually speaking, there is only one life and one activity going on everywhere, and it’s an activity of love and of creativity, and of fulfillment, of ever expressing, ever expanding life expression. There’s one infinite life that is absolute good, and that is forever unfolding. As it unfolds and it bumps into areas and pockets of lack, limitation, separation, it manifests as crises, challenges, problems: people hurting us, betraying us, all of the dramas of the human experience. The deeper meaning of that problem or challenge is that we’ve been living in a world too small, that we’ve been trying to manage our life in a world that is too small for who we really are, who we want to be, what we’ve prayed or affirmed, or called into being. We wanted to be in this certain kind of relationship, but we wanted to be a certain kind of person, but we weren’t really consciously and actively pursuing that. We weren’t cleaning up our own side of the street, or we weren’t fully being conscious in integrity and honoring ourselves in some way, and the situation happened. At first, we felt like a victim of it, but upon deeper reflection, we realize it’s happening to wake us up, to crack us up out of our old shells, to shake out the old structures, to make us see where we’ve been living a lie or living too small or living out of integrity with our soul or not living true to our higher vision. We see that, in fact, everything is always conspiring for our evolution, just as certain trees require a forest fire for them to crack open their seed pods and germinate. Sometimes our own life does as well, and it looks like people doing us wrong.

If Judas didn’t do what Judas did to Jesus, Jesus couldn’t have fulfilled Jesus’ mission. For many people that hated President Bush, but loved President Obama, if you look at the conditions that were created because of the administration of Bush, that was the very condition that made it possible for Obama to be elected. As terrible or negative as you may think it was, it was a precursor. It created the forest fire, the condition that made Obama possible. On and on throughout history you see this to be the case, and you see it individually as well as collectively. You see it in industries. You see it in many areas where necessity becomes the mother of invention. Pain, struggle, conflict, challenge, heartbreak, breakdown –becomes the very condition that leads to the breakthrough. Now, I’m not saying that there’s a spiritual principle that says we have to suffer, but I am saying in this dimension that tends to be one of the ways that we break through, especially if we’re in resistance.

The highest level of forgiveness is the realization that this is going on, but there is a greater wholeness always trying to break through. This other individual is really an aspect of your own life, your own soul. There really a soulmate with a sacred contract to play a part for your own awakening. In reality, nobody was hurt. In Reality, there is no victim and no victimizer. In Reality, they were playing their part so that you could play yours. Now, for some of you, that’s going to feel like a bitter pill to swallow. I want to be very clear, I am not condoning any destructive behavior. If somebody hurts or attacks, or is violent, or robs, steals, rapes, plunders, etc., none of those actions are condonable. We’re not condoning them, but we are willing to dig deeper and realize that there’s a chaotic process going on, which is a word that means behind chaos; there is a bigger order.

Behind the most human aberrations, there is a spiritual aspiration trying to break through. We’re willing to be mature enough spiritually and intellectually to look for the deeper pattern, the bigger pattern, the larger order, and then to come into alignment with that. If we want to grow, if we want to be free, and if we want to be leaders of greater freedom in our individual and collective lives, then that’s the path we must take. It doesn’t mean we condone people. If somebody is violent and dangerous to themselves or others, they need to be put in jail. Let me be very clear about that, but even while we may close the bars on their door, we do not close the door of our heart. We continue to love them. We continue to know the truth about them. We continue to serve in their own and wherever we are called for their own freedom; we can do both. We can not condone bad behavior and still love. What a noble idea. We can not condone bad behavior and be very strong and be very forthright and say, That is not okay. That is absolutely unacceptable, or whatever the consequence maybe, I will not do business with you anymore, because you are not in integrity; you did not honor this agreement, or I will not be with you because you did this, or I will call the police and you will go to jail, etc., etc. At the same time, love them, love ourselves, seek the higher truth about the situation so that it becomes evolutionary and healing for us at least and maybe for family, and maybe for them. Keep the doors of our heart open regardless of we have to close some of the doors of our human experience, on a relationship, on a business deal, or whatever.

We can do both. The highest level of forgiveness allows us to do both, and that’s the path of real mastery and real freedom. You really can love everybody unconditionally. It’s what I call having a heart of gold but a soul of steel. This is what real forgiveness looks like. Some people that’s why they are afraid to forgive; they think if I forgive the other person, I’m condoning. No. Again, this is not something I would go and speak to the masses necessarily, because in the hands of an unconscious person they could think that I’m giving permission for them to go do something wrong, and then just rationalize it. That’s not what I’m saying. You can absolutely hold people accountable, hold them in integrity, hold them to agreement, have consequences, and love and forgive and have compassion. Compassion is an understanding of their lack of understanding. That’s what I’m calling into, and then it leads you into the deeper meaning of your life, the deeper meaning of your life’s experiences, the deeper Divine purpose and ultimate potential.

How do you forgive bad people? You ultimately realize there are no bad people. There are people that had become caught, that had become unconscious, that are caught by societal values of lack, limitation, and fear, that have become aberrant, twisted in their own mental concepts and perceptions and are acting those fears and limitations out in the world because they’re asleep; they’re caught up in a nightmare. Forgive them for they know not what they do, even if humanly they know. They’re asleep. They’re unconscious. They’re not bad in their soul, even if they’re expressing bad. The word evil is live backwards. All evil actions are when somebody is operating in opposition or reverse of life principles, and they’re only doing that because that’s how they’ve been conditioned. We begin to understand that. We begin to have compassion for that. We allow that to transform us and heal us, and grow us. We have compassion and love and forgiveness for them. We seek in whatever capacity we are called to have educate and transform them, redeem them and ourselves, taking full responsibility for our part in it. At the same time, we hold them accountable with consequences.

This is the path of radical forgiveness. Ultimately, as I said, we realize that all of this is for our own growth and evolution, that all of the enemies in our world are really within our own consciousness. This is what Jesus meant when he said, Forgive your enemies seventy times seven which basically means until you no longer have to, and he said, The enemy is in your own household which is esoteric or metaphysical metaphor for your consciousness, your mind or your soul. All the enemies are within us. As we fall in love with forgive and integrate all of our internal enemies, there’s no longer being projected onto the world. We no longer draw that into our experience. If we do, that’s an opportunity for us to grow and to heal, or to be a healing influence.

I hope this has helped you to begin to understand forgiveness in a deeper, richer way, and to maybe even be a little inspired to start up leveling your practice of forgiveness. (Bonus Episode) God Is Not Santa Clause (And Other Shocking Truths)

Today’s topic comes from this fundamental idea that, God, as we’ve been conditioned to know it (whether you believe in a God or not) is a power outside of us.

We are unpacking these ideas, busting these myths, and letting go of old limited archaic concepts of God, life, and power, in order to come to a deeper and truer understanding of life principles.

What I really want you to get is the fundamental understanding that life is not personal, it’s principle. The nature of God is an isness. God is a principle and a presence. It’s not something that’s changing or something that evolves.

On some level, this has entered into our culture and conditioning, into the way we see ourselves, life, and the way we see the universe (Again, whether you believe in a God or you believe in a universal power, universal laws, or you believe in good luck.)

All of that is a part of this fundamental concept of our belief in God. Your belief or your concept of what God is absolutely has a major impact on how you experience life, how you live life, and to the level that which you get to express the full potential of life.

The first and foremost thing we need to understand is that there is no God or no power out there, not in the North Pole, not on the North Star and not in the stars. All the power is within you.

Listen to the podcast episode above for the full explanation and learn how you can put it to work in your life TODAY.

And remember, self-help is shelf help – you have everything you need already!

Derek Rydall here, founder of the law of Emergence and author of the best-selling book, Emergence: Seven Steps for Radical Life Change. It’s just so great to be with you again on this deep dive journey of emergence and really of understanding the principles that underlie the most effective and efficient way to create a life of your dreams. There really are principles to life. If you’ve been listening for a while, you know that this is not life. Ultimately, life is not personal; it’s principle. It’s not luck; it’s law. Now, there’s a deeply personal, devotional, loving, sweet, tender aspect to life. It’s very real. It’s very intimate. The underlying structures of life, the things that guarantee that life is going to work is not emotional; it’s not personal. Isn’t that a good thing? Let’s be honest, if life, if the Divine intelligence, the underlying intelligence of all of life was like a human being, don’t you have days where you just don’t feel like getting out of bed? What if the principle of aerodynamics just someday didn’t feel like operating? The planes will be falling out of the sky as well as birds. What if the principle of buoyancy just wasn’t having a good day? Boats would be sinking everywhere, and some seasons the trees wouldn’t blossom fruits, and some seasons the birds wouldn’t fly south, the magnetic pulse would shift. Obviously, it would be chaos. The planets would fall out of orbit, crashing to each other. Everything that we ultimately depend on is

Everything that we ultimately depend on is principle, not personal; law, not luck. There is an order we can depend on. There is an order we can lean on. There is an order we can trust in. It’s unfailing. It’s undenying. It has no withholding. It’s perfect. It’s whole. It’s complete. The thing about it is that we’re not experiencing that fall order. We’re only experiencing as much of the order as we’ve allowed ourselves to be conscious of and to come into harmony with, right? As I’ve talked in previous episodes, the law of buoyancy is always in operation, but you could still sink if you don’t understand the principle of buoyancy, and you don’t know how to operate in harmony with it. You can sink, you can drown, but that’s not because of the law of buoyancy and the principle of buoyancy isn’t operating. It’s because you haven’t learned to come in harmony with it. The same is true with the law of aerodynamics. It’s always operating. If you are in harmony with it, your plane flies.

There are many, many underlying principles that are infinite, that are eternal, that are universal, that we’ve yet to fully understand and to come into harmony, with to build a boat, to build a life that is in integrity with it, so that our life can float and fly at ever greater levels. That potential is here. This is what the great spiritual teachers and philosophers are trying to get to, and even the great truly conscious scientists that are truly about discovering the greater truths rather than dogmatically and fundamentally trying to hold to the axiom, that if you can’t taste it, touch it and measure it, it’s not real. That’s not truth teaching. In fact, the exact opposite is true. If you can taste it, touch it and measure it, it’s not real. It’s a relative effect. What is real is infinite, and therefore can never be measured, except as it unfolds. The great mystic teachers are trying to teach us these perennial truths and principles that when we learn to come into alignment with them, our life works better and better. Our life bears richer and richer fruits. It’s not woo-woo. It’s not religious. Religion, in the truest, meaning comes from a term religio which means to bind one back, like the word ligament. It means to bind you back to the truth, bind you back to those principles of living. That’s the real purpose of religion. It’s to discover and to bind you, to anchor you into principles of living that promote a greater and greater life, and ultimately total spiritual liberation which means to be completely free and unencumbered by conditions, able to live and thrive and express regardless of conditions and live from that infinite, immortal, eternal nature of your being.

This is what we’re doing in these Emergence podcasts and trainings – is we are seeking to uncover and understand and ultimately design a way of life that is totally in harmony with the highest universal principles, this underlying order that is here to support us, and that will allow us to fly to heights you are too far, unimagined. When I’m talking about religion and God and all of that, if you need to reinterpret it in terms of universal principles and all of that, please do that. Know that this is not dogmatic. This is not fundamentalist. This is not religious or doctrinal. This is about principle. This is about understanding how life really works so that we can come into harmony, so that our life expression can work even better. I feel like I need to delay that foundation again to understand why we’re doing what we’re doing. Some of these podcasts, they are a little bit down the rabbit hole and other ones are much more practical because we need to balance them both. We need to be in the world, but ultimately not of it. We need to expand our consciousness to understand these deeper or higher principles, but then we also need very practical structural guidance to actually implement and apply them. It’s both.

Right now, what we’re talking about in this particular podcast today is the idea that God is not Santa Claus and many other shocking truths. This comes from this fundamental idea that God as we’ve been conditioned to know it, whether you believe in a God or not, it’s a part of your archetypal makeup. It’s a belief in a power outside of us. It’s a belief that this power is anthropomorphic, meaning it’s a man of some kind or to go with a more feminist movement version, it’s a woman. God is neither a woman nor a man. God is not a person. God is a principle and a presence. It’s important to understand that the nature of God is an isness. It’s not something that’s changing, something that evolves. It’s not like a person as the old joke goes, God made man in his image and likeness and man has been trying to repay the favor ever since trying to make God in man’s image and likeness. God is no such thing. The reason why this is important – whatever your belief, wherever along the spectrum of belief you fall –is that on some level, this has entered into our culture, into our conditioning, into the way we see ourselves, the way we see life, the way we see the universe, whether you believe in a God or you believe in a universal power or you believe in universal laws or you believe in good fortune or good luck. All of that is a part of this fundamental concept of our belief in God. You may call it luck, or you may call it the muse, or good fortune, or providence, or just universal power. Your belief or your concept of what God is, whether you say you believe in God or not, it absolutely has a major impact on how you experience life, how you live life and to the level that which you get to express the full potential of life.

It’s really important that we are unpacking these ideas, we are busting these myths. We’re letting go of this old limited archaic concepts of God, life and power and coming to a deeper and truer understanding. The first and foremost thing we need to understand, which all the great master teachers taught us, is that there is no God or no power out there, that there isn’t some power out there, not in the North Pole and not on the North Star and not be on the stars. All the power is within you. Jesus said, The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. If Christians had only gotten that piece right, things would be very different. I’m not knocking Christians. I’m saying that that’s a fundamental missing piece to understanding the entire teachings. The same thing is true with Buddha. He has called it Nirvana, but he said that was within you. Lao Tzu talked about the Tao, and all the great teachers gave it a different name based on cultural conditioning and idioms, and just their own creative expression of it, but they’re all talking about the same thing. They’re talking about the realm of the real – that infinite, immortal, eternal changeless something. Quantum physicists call it the quantum field. They may not quite say that it’s within you, but they say that you are within the field. You are a wavelength of consciousness within the field. They also would say there’s no separation or division. There’s not really a place where you stop and the field starts or the field stops and you start. They’re really saying the same thing.

It’s all within you, not so much within your physical body, but your material body is within your consciousness and your consciousness is unbounded. Your consciousness, in its truest and purest sense, is God’s consciousness. Now, it may have other content in it right now: perceptions, beliefs, filters that create an experience less than Divine just like the ocean has lot of garbage in it, but the garbage is floating in the ocean, in the pure ocean. Whatever garbage you have in your consciousness, and we all have some, your consciousness, your pure consciousness is spirit, is God’s consciousness, is where the kingdom of heaven, nirvana, and all of the good and richest exists. That’s the first thing. All the power, all the substance is in you, in your consciousness. The second thing is that this power or presence or life that we call God or higher power, it’s not a person. It’s not personal, and it’s not changing or changeable. It’s principle. It’s lawful. It’s immutable. It’s not in time and space. Time and space are constructs. Time and space is the canvas upon which we paint with the colors of our soul but this presence is not in time and space. It’s not evolving. There’s no medium of evolution. Evolution is simply the enfoldment of that which has been enfolded. It’s evoluting that which has been involuted. The presence of the Divine, this presence of life, the source and the cause of all creation –it’s not changing. It’s an infinite, immortal, eternal isness.

Again, when I say infinite, infinite doesn’t mean a lot. That’s how we are imposing our material concept on spiritual reality. Infinite is a quality. It’s just an isness. It’s hard to conceive with our mind because our mind, that part of mind trying to conceive is finite and understands finite concepts. Space is a relative expression of infinity. Time is a relative expression of eternity. Eternity is not a long time. Eternity is the quality of this now moment. All of your tomorrows and yesterdays are part of God’s now, God’s today so there’s a now moment. There’s a now moment that is unchanging, and there’s an infinite substance and an infinite beingness that is unchanging. As that unfolds in a medium of expression, like time and space, time and space is the way we measure the enfoldment of infinite immortal expression. The infinite immortal being has no time or space, and, therefore, it’s not changing, because its nature is infinite and eternal, there’s no end to its expression. Now, just take a breath, because I know that this stuff is hard to grasp, and even as I’m using words, I’m activating a field of awareness so that you can catch what’s between the words. You can catch the consciousness behind the words as the saying goes, The stuff cannot really be taught, truth cannot really be taught; it must be caught in consciousness. This presence, this Divine life, God, whatever you want to call it, is unchanging, infinite, immortal, eternal being, and it contains within it all possibility except that it’s not really possibility, it’s not potentiality, it’s actualize.

Again, that’s hard to understand, but it’s already done, it’s already complete, it’s already happening, it’s fully expressing, and it’s now. What we are is a state of consciousness, a center of consciousness within this one consciousness that is unfolding forever. That’s what it means to be the child of God, the son of God, the offspring of God. We are an infinite individualized expression of this one life. We are the way It is knowing and expressing itself as individual being, okay? It’s unfolding because without that sense of individual being, God can’t even experience itself. This is the way God experiences itself as individual being and it’s unfolding. At the center of this being, there is this nucleus. There is this power, presence, intelligence and Divine ideal the God had that it’s not changing, that it never will, that it’s never born, that never dies, that never improves, that never diminishes – and this is what’s called the kingdom of God or nirvana.

Why is it important to say that God is not Santa Claus? What’s the practical value of understanding this fundamental nature of what God is, what the Divine is? Well, one is what I’ve said in the beginning of this which is that it helps to begin to release us from this fearful concept of God, this wrathful God, this emotional God, this God of reward and punishment. We can start to relax in knowing there is no such God. There is no God that’s going to reward you for good behavior or punish you for bad behavior. There is no God like a Santa Claus checking his list, seeing if you’re naughty or nice, and giving you a lump of coal, or sending you to eternal flames and Sulphur if you’re not. There is no such God.

God is a principle and a power, and an intelligence to the center of your being at the center of all being, that is light, that is love, that is all giving, that has no withholding, that its wholeness and completeness and perfection itself. It can’t be anything but what it is. No amount of your do-gooding or bad-doing can change the nature of the Divine center of life. No amount of prayers or lack of prayers can change it. What all of your doing and praying does is two things: it makes you more or less receptive, more or less in integrity with the way God is, with the way you really are. As I said before, the law of buoyancy cannot withhold itself from you. You could be the most evil person on the planet, but if you bring yourself into alignment with the law of buoyancy, you’re going to float. You can be the greatest person on the planet, the most do-gooding. You can be Mother Theresa, Gandhi, you could be Jesus. If you don’t understand the laws of buoyancy and you’re not floating correctly, you’re going to sink. Now you might say, Well, Jesus walked on water. Maybe he can defy the laws of buoyancy. That’s another topic. The point is that this presence is the same way.

When you’re praying and affirming, and doing all that you’re doing, when we talked about designing a life that’s in harmony, with affirmations and meditations and all of that, all of that is not trying to change the nature of the Universe or change the nature of God. The same way when I talked about the radio analogy, and I say that your favorite music is broadcasting right where you are, and you tune the dial of your frequency, your radio, until it matches the frequency where that music is playing and suddenly the music becomes manifest. Now, the music wasn’t in the distance, it wasn’t in the future. You didn’t make the music happen; you made the music welcome by tuning into it, by making your frequency come into alignment with the frequency where the music was playing, right? We can all understand that. There’s nothing woo-woo about that. The key thing is that you could be the evilest person in the world, but if you tune your dial right, you’ll get the music the same way as the greatest person in the world. You canbe the greatest person in the world. You could pray all of your life. If you don’t know how to tune, or don’t know the station, you’ll never going to get that music. It’s not because the music isn’t playing. It’s because you don’t know and understand where the music is playing and how to tune into it. That’s all. It has nothing to do with good or bad behavior, but your good behavior, bad behavior, prayers, meditations, affirmations and all the work you do is either tuning you into that station of your greatest potential where that beat of abundance is playing, that symphony of success or the Divine is shining its life and light or you’re not tuning into it, right?

If you now go back and really study the teachings of Jesus and Buddha, and the great masters, you’ll discover all they’re really doing is teaching these fundamental things: there’s this one life, it’s the only life there is, it’s all good, it’s who and what you really are, now, here’s how you tune into it. Take no thought for your life. Stop worrying about all that stuff, seek first the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness and all those things will be added. When you pray, pray believing that you already have that you may receive. Buddha: Release all craving and aversion. Find your equanimity, that middle path. Be still and know that I am in the midst of the God. I mean they’re all just teaching you how to tune in to what’s already broadcasting. Jesus said the fields are already white onto the harvest. He said, heaven will not come by observation. It’s already at hand and it’s already within you, but having eyes you see it not; having ears, you hear it not because you’re judging by appearances, and it’s tuning you out of the frequency of where wholeness and harmony is existing which is right here, right now. Love your neighbors. Forgive your enemies seventy times seven. That wasn’t a moral teaching. That was teaching how to tune in to the vibration of wholeness, to the reality of God within you and then your life blossoms from that place. The music begins to manifest. These are not moralistic teachings. These are principles. These are teaching you how to build a boat, design a plane that flies, a boat that floats, a life that soars. It’s principle.

God is not a Santa Claus. You can pray for the rest of your life. If you’re praying with an underlying idea that it’s some God outside of you that’s going to hear all your good prayers and eventually answer them, you’re going to be pretty unhappy. Now, the other reason to understand why God neither punishes or rewards so you no longer have to do good or worry about what you’re doing that God’s going to hurt you or you worry he will punish you, but it’s also what’s called the law of karma or the law of cause and effect. At the relative level, like does attract like, action does create an equal or opposite reaction mentally, emotionally and physically. Just like when you plant a seed in the ground, God is not growing that seed, okay? It’s the same way to think of it. If you plant the seed and you cultivate the soil correctly, you plant an apple seed, you get an apple tree. If you do the right cultivation, you follow the principle, you get an apple tree; you don’t get an orange tree ever, ever. That’s not because God is rewarding you for being a good farmer or a good gardener. It’s because the seed in which you’re planting already contains the thing that it will bring forth. The apple is already in the apple seed. The effect is already in the cause. You’re planting it in accordance with law, the law of emergence and the soil. God has nothing to do with that except that the underlying principle of life is fulfillment, is abundance, is harmony, and the whole process of planting seeds and harvesting fruits is a relative expression of this underlying eternal nature of reality, if you can capture what I just said. It’s not that there’s a God that’s blessing some farmers and not blessing on others, pouring rain on one and not on the other. In fact, in Scripture, it say, God pours his rain on the just and the unjust, shines his light on the saint and the sinner. God is no respecter of persons. It says it right there.

Again, God is not a respecter of person; God is a respecter of principle, of law, because God is principle, God is law. When you come into harmony with these Divine principles, no matter what, it must manifest. The other good thing about that is as it says, Although your sins may have been as red as crimson, now, they will be as white as snow. What it’s saying is that in a holy instant, when you come into harmony with the truth of your being, you could have been the most dastardly person in all time, but in the mind of God, there’s no such record of that person. The moment you come into the harmony with the truth, the truth sets you free, and those karmic change are broken. You come out of the law and under grace. This is what that song, Amazing Grace, is about. It’s available to you now, but if you think of God as a Santa Claus, and you think you have to pay your dues and overcome lifetime karma and all of that, again, it’s that very paradigm that’s holding your prisoner, not God. God is not withholding anything from you. God is not withholding anything from you. God could not if God wanted to, any more than the law of electricity or buoyancy or aerodynamics can withhold from you.

God is principle. God is law and God is intimate love. It is very personal and very intimate, so it can feel very personal and very intimate, and very gracious and just sweet. The underlying operation of it has no bearing on devotional, emotional aspects. It will operate lawfully no matter what. That’s a good thing. Again, we can depend on that. We can lean on that. That’s what it means to lean on the everlasting arms of God. That’s what it means when it says, I know the thoughts I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of good not of evil to give you an expected end. This principle knows the outcome, and the outcome is always good, but you have to come into alignment with it. You have to realize it’s within you. God can only do for you what you do for yourself or God can only operate through and as you to the extent that you are operating as if you are this presence of God, as if you are one with this presence and this principle. That’s what it means when it says, Be ye perfect even as your father in Heaven is perfect.

Again, this is not religious. I’m using the scriptural analogies, anecdotes, quotes for those of you that maybe have heard of them before, so in the context that you can start to see, Oh, that’s what that Bible is trying to tell me. Whatever the Bible is you read, whether it’s the Christian, the Jewish, the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Muslim, it doesn’t matter. There’s still principle in there. You strip away all the dogma and doctrine, and cultural idioms, there’s what’s called the perennial teaching that expands all of these great teachings. That’s ultimately what we want to become students of. What is the underlying perennial teachings of the ages that is just for all time? Then, we can read these different scriptures and philosophies and go, Oh, that’s what they’re saying. Oh, they’re all saying fundamentally the same thing with little tweaks here and there, and little creative additions here and there, but fundamentally, they’re all teaching this one thing: the true nature of life, the true nature of God, the true nature of us, and how to live in harmony with it so that our life bears witness to the magnificence of the universe. It’s not magical. It’s not woo-woo. It’s actually principle. It’s actually scientific, but in order to begin to really apprehend this and live this, we have to move out of some of these mythological ways of seeing things, fundamentalist ways of seeing things, overly romantic ways of seeing things, and realize God is not Santa Claus. God does not punish. God does not reward. God does not give and God does not take. God is no respecter of persons. This Divine presence is like the sun, it’s always shining, always giving of its fullness, never ever withholds, but you can pull the blinds down. You can put on sunglasses. You can put on sunscreen. You can close the door, turn off all the lights and live in the dark if you choose, but that has nothing to do with the fact that the sun is always shining, always radiating its goodness. If you want to go out into it, you can soak up that vitamin D. If you learn how to come into harmony with it, you can get a good tan. You can get even heal, get healthy from it. You can grow your garden. Same thing with electricity, it’s always expressing. It’s everywhere. There’s no lack of energy, but if you don’t build the right structure and you don’t plug in, it might as well not exist. You could pray to electricity all day long, but if you don’t have the right structure, and you don’t plug in, those prayers won’t be answered. You can be a terrible person, but if you know how to plug in your appliance, it’s going to work. You can be the best person in the world, but if you don’t know how to plug in, you’re going to be in the dark. The electricity does not punish you, and it does not reward you. If you don’t understand it, you can stick your finger in the light socket, and it can electrocute you. You could be Mother Teresa and be electrocuted. You can be Hitler and plug in and have your lights turned on. It’s no respecter of persons. This goes to the point a lot of times when we don’t understand why good things happened to bad people and bad things happened to good people, because principle is no respecter of people. It’s a respecter of principle. Some really, really good people do not know how to live in principle with certain things, and they suffer from that. Some bad people do know how to live in principle with certain things, and they benefit from that.

Now, again, there is the karmic law, or the law of cause and effect, and if you are doing a lot of good, truly doing good and coming from a good heart, you are sowing seeds that will reap fruits, but they may not be the fruits you want. I’ve talked about this before. You may still be broke living in a shack but have a lot of people that love you. If you want to be loving and have a lot of people that love you and be abundant, you need to apprentice under the principle of wealth and abundance and know how that principle of life operates. You could know it, master that principle but have a cold heart and be rich and wealthy and nobody likes you. You see? So you can be on either side of the equation. What I really want you to get is the fundamental understanding that life is not personal, it’s principle. It’s never personal, not even your relationship with other people is personal. That’s all another topic. As you understand this and begin to get this, it’s going to change the nature of your prayer, your meditation. You’ll begin to remember you’re not ever praying for anything; you’re praying from something. You’re getting in touch with this kingdom within, this heaven within, this wholeness within, this abundance and power within, and your prayer becomes the opening, the way which you express and radiate, and pour forth rather than the way you try to pull to you. That’s the meaning. That’s what Jesus meant when he said, When you pray, pray believing you have that you may receive. That’s not a metaphysical trick to attract; it was the mystical truth that you already got it.

This begins to change your relationship with God, with the Divine, with power, with the Universe, and with yourself. It allows you to begin to step into more of your Divine authority, to let go of childish ways of trying to do good, to get rewards and avoid doing the wrong things so you don’t get punished. That’s a relationship with a child to their parent. You can begin to let that go now. It doesn’t mean you don’t still do good and try not to do bad, but you understand now the reason why you’re doing good or not doing bad is because you’re trying to design a life and be a person that is more and more in integrity with the truth of your being. You want to live a life of wealth and health and happiness and love and power and joy and creative genius. Well, if you are living that life, how would you feel? Who would you be and how would you act? Write those qualities down and begin to design your life and a way that you can feel, be and act that way. You’re not doing any of that to make any of that happen or to please some external God. You’re doing that because it feels good to live in integrity with your true self and you’re tuning by doing that, you’re striking a vibrational chord that is tuning you into the station where your music is playing so that eventually that station becomes manifest and you have your manifestation. Manifestation is not about making something happen that’s not happening. It’s about making that which is always happening visible, tangible. That’s all it is.

Heaven is at hand now. You’re living and moving and having your being in paradise, in wholeness, in fulfillment infinitely, immortality and eternally. You can never lose it. It can never be diminished. It’s all here now. It’s all you now. Now, your work play is to do whatever you need to do inside and out to begin to think, speak, walk and talk, and design a way of life as if this is true. Then, pray from that place, affirm from that place, and watch as your life experience begins to bear more and more witness to the truth about life itself. ASK DEREK – Why Aren’t Things Working Anymore?

ASK DEREK – Why Aren’t Things Working Anymore?

The core reason Why Aren’t Things Working Anymore is evolutionary… You’ve activated a larger life and something more is trying to emerge through you.

You’re being called to let go of those lesser tools, habits, and mindsets that are no longer congruent and begin to embrace a more refined way of living that’s in integrity with the emerging vision.

Maybe you’ve come to understand the Law of Emergence but you’re still operating trying to attract, achieve, and make things happen.

You’re still operating in the old paradigm, using the old models and toolbox. It’s like you’ve suddenly gotten a Ferrari, and you’re still driving it like it’s a Honda and not understanding that a much more fine-tuned instrument requires a different way of handling.

In order to keep evolving up levels, you have to let go of the predominant tool of the level before, even in some cases, things that worked.

Where things are no longer working, one of the first things you want to look at is: What is the larger life trying to emerge through and as me? What is the larger paradigm or model of life?

You can begin to step-by-step, methodically release those old paradigms and replace them with the thinking, feeling, walking and talking that is in integrity with the life you’ve been praying, affirming, visioning or having a deeper insight about.

[The following is the full transcript of this episode of the Emergence, A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change, with Derek Rydall Podcast]

Welcome to another episode of Ask Derek. It’s my honor and pleasure to be with you on this journey of Emergence as your guide on the side instead of the sage on the stage and helping you to really understand how life operates to your benefit. Life is not personal, it’s principle. Life is not luck, it’s law. Often, we’ve come to believe that I’m just a good person, that things will work out better for me, and if I’m a bad person, things will work out bad. Then, we look out at the world and we wonder why are good things happening to bad people and bad things happen to good people. That’s one of the biggest conundrums, but when you understand that life is principle, that life doesn’t just happen, it happens just, it happens to lawful principles. When you understand the principle and can live in alignment with it, your life bears witness to that.

As I’ve talked about in previous episodes, if you understand the laws of buoyancy and have a layered body in integrity with that principle and the water, you’ll float. If you’re a really bad person, you’ll still float. If you don’t understand the laws of buoyancy and you go out into the water, but you’re a truly good person, like even a saint, you’ll sink. It’s important to understand this, so that we begin to understand the ancient scriptural reference when it says God is no respecter of persons. God shines its light on the saint and the sinners, pours its rain on the just and unjust. It’s trying to tell us that there’s a principle in operation. I’m here to help you understand what are those underlying principles so that you can bring your life into greater and greater harmony with it, both transcendent and immanent, the deep spiritual, internal transformational aspects as well as the most outward mundane practical aspects because there really one or two sides of the same coin of a full living.

I did not intend on saying all of that preamble, but it wanted to be said. In this particular episode, we’re answering the question Why aren’t things working anymore? Yes, we could just say, why aren’t things working, and that’s a broader question. Why aren’t things working anymore refers to those things that used to work or maybe even used to work really well, but aren’t working as well or aren’t working at all anymore. This is a very strange and frustrating and confusing experience when the things you used to do don’t work anymore. The core reason that I want to get across of why this is happening is evolutionary. You’ve activated a larger life, a bigger life. Something more is trying to emerge through you. You’re still operating in the old paradigm and the old models using the old toolbox. It’s like you’ve suddenly gotten a Ferrari, and you’re still driving it like it’s a Honda or whatever the case may be, and not understanding that’s so much finer-tuned instrument and requires a different way of handling.

Life is constantly evolving, I should say, life experiences evolve, and life itself is not. Life itself is an infinite perfect isness, but life experience is our experience of the enfoldment of this infinite life, and we call that evolution. As it’s unfolding, you cannot put new wine into old wine’s skins. You cannot use the same tools that work on your Honda on your Ferrari. Like a caterpillar, if it continued to try to operate using caterpillar models and tools and strategies once it sprouts wings and become a butterfly that would be very problematic. For example, let’s say you are using very traditional manifestation techniques like Law of Attraction and/or something like that, or perhaps just using your will to push yourself through and get things done and make things happen, but it’s burning you out. It becomes difficult and overwhelming, and it’s not sustainable, and you’ve prayed or affirmed or intended to discover an easier way, a better life, a life of more grace and ease than stress and struggle. You’ve had some insights around that. You begin to maybe see and understand that there is a different way, that there is a better way.

Maybe you’ve come to understand the Law of Emergence and that everything is an inside out instead of the Law of Attraction which you think you’re going to pull it to you. You’re still operating trying to attract things or trying to push through and achieve things and make things happen, and you’re noticing it’s simply not working anymore. It’s like pushing a boulder uphill like Sisyphus, and it keeps rolling back down and rolling over you or driving with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. What you have to begin to understand is in order to keep evolving up levels, you have to let go of the predominant tool of the level before, even in some cases things that worked. As I’ve said in previous talks, what’s working that’s in your way? You have to be willing to let it go. The acorn shell works really, really well for the acorn. It protects the internal substance of that acorn from outer elements. It does all kinds of wonderful things, but when the oak’s time has come to emerge, when it’s time to become an oak tree, that shell is a problem. It has to be cracked and broken and destroyed and released.

The same is true for you, that where things are no longer working the first thing you want to look at, one of the first things, is: What is the larger life trying to emerge through and as me? What is the larger paradigm or model of life? For example, whereas before I used to believe that everything was out there and I needed to work hard to get it, and now, I’ve come to understanding that everything is within me and I need to work to not make it happen but to make it welcome, to come into integrity with it, with the fact that I’ve already got it. You begin to discover what is that new paradigm or model of life that is emerging, that you began to accept or understand or affirm. Ask if I really believe that, that this was the way it is, that this is the life that is unfolding, how would I feel? How would I think? How would I talk? How would I walk? In other words, who would I be, and what would I do? If I really believed that this was so, this new paradigm, this new insight, this thing that I’m praying and affirming, if I really believed I had it, I was it, that it was happening, how would I show up? What would I do? What would I do more of, less of, or differently? How would I feel? How would I think? How would I talk? What kind of conversations would I have and what kinds would I no longer have? As you honestly ask that and then just look over your life and your habits and your practices, you begin to identify the things that are no longer congruent and while it’s difficult to let go of them.

You can begin to step-by-step methodically release those and replace them with the thinking and the feeling and the walking and the talking that is in integrity with the life you’ve been praying, affirming, visioning or having a deeper insight about, so that you begin to bring your life now into integrity with that which is emerging. That’s really what we’re being called to do. We’re not here to save the world but to serve the emerging paradigm. We’re not here to save our little world but to serve the emerging version of our life. That’s very different. The saving of our life has this holding on habits and methods and modes that are based on preservation, protection, comfort and convenience. The serving of our bigger life has this letting go of safety, security, comfort and convenience and beginning to embrace habits and practices, thoughts and activities that are progressive, beginning to surround ourselves inside and out with the people, places, things and activities that represent where we’re going, not where we’ve been. This is my charge to you, to begin to consciously ask that question, and then to begin to practice it.

Now, there’s another reason why things aren’t working anymore sometimes. I wanted to start with that other one first, because I think in some ways it’s more important, especially because I believe you’re listening to this because you’re an evolutionary, that you’re here to live on the emerging edge of your own progressive enfoldment and make a bigger impact in your life and in the world, and not merely keep the status quo and just improve around status quo. The second reason is that when we started to do these sort of principles and practices, even if it’s Law of Attraction or Law of Emergence, but we’re doing the inner work, changing our mind set, changing our emotions, changing our vibration, changing our habits, and we’re really focusing on planting those healthy seeds, and cultivating health roots. When it starts to grow and emerge and produce the rich fruits, if that money suddenly shows up, that new job suddenly shows up, that new partner or mate suddenly shows, we start getting compliments on how we’ve lost weight and we look better than ever. Those are the fruits of our labors, of cultivating and planting, and watering and weeding and feeding the seeds of our own potential. Those are the fruits, but what happens invariably is that we’ve become identified and attached to the fruits and we’ve become complacent around our main or foundational practice in cultivating and nourishing the roots. This is why I say we must stay rooted as we rise.

The best farmer or gardener understands that the fruits, as wonderful as they are, are just the by-product, the effect of a deeper process of planting seed and cultivating soil and the watering and the weeding and the feeding, that of itself has no immediate reward, because you do that a lot in the dark and in the dank soil of your soul. Eventually, the fruits come as a reward but sometimes, the reward has been so long-sought that we forget, we get so lost and caught up in the rewards, in the fruits so identified and even afraid of losing them, that we hoard them, we hold onto them. What happens if you just hold on and hoard all the fruits? They rot in your hands, but if you honor them, you share them, and you use them, that’s a beautiful thing, as long as you keep your main priority – the honoring, the cultivating of the soil and the seed and the root. A lot of times when things stop working, when they’re not working anymore, you got inspired. You got into a new program or plans, you started doing these things, bam, things started happening almost like magic.

Now, a month, a few months, six months down the road, everything seems to be installed or stagnated and you’re not making progress. Well, this is another reason why – you’ve taken your attention off of the very things that got you to where you are. You’ve forgotten that the core practice, your meditation, your affirmation, your prayer, your inner healing, your forgiveness work, all that rich-cultivating work has become either less important or in some cases, completely put aside as you become so caught up in the new life that you’ve manifested, because you’re not focused on the roots and the seed, you start to become afraid of losing. Unconsciously, you know that you’re going to lose these things, that you don’t really own them. That energy of fear of loss is an energy of constriction, of lack, of limitation and now you have begun the downward spiral that will eventually end and you’re losing that which you have. Like a farmer that stops cultivating the roots, they get a good harvest once, maybe twice but eventually that seed or those roots aren’t fed, aren’t taken care of and the tree dies. Like the goose and the golden egg, you take yourself for granted, you cut it open trying to get all the gold out at once and you killed the goose.

These are the core reasons why things aren’t working anymore. Things may not be working to begin with because you’re not understanding the principle, and you’re not consciously applying it and you don’t have a clear practice that you’re doing consistently until you get results. Things, once they are working and stop working, are often because of these two purposes: you’ve stopped focusing on the core practices that developed the consciousness, the mindset, the habits that bear your fruits, and you’ve gotten overly caught up in the fruits. You just don’t have the time to meditate lately, and you’re wondering why you’re starting to feel like you have less and less space in your life, or you’ve been practicing a certain level of creation or manifestation or living that is now too small for the larger life that’s been activated in you. You’re being called to let go of those lesser tools, strategies, habits and mindsets and begin to embrace a more refined higher practice in way of living that is more in integrity with the vision that’s emerging.

I invite you to take an honest assessment of your life right now. If you find any area where things aren’t working anymore and discover one or two areas where this is true and begin to rededicate yourself to the practice that got you to transform in the first place or to commit to the higher level of living and practicing that serves and is in integrity with the greater life and the greater you that is now seeking to emerge.
